13 year old tires, time to replace?

I am not sure why anyone would want to run the tires until they pop, WHEN they pop it may be a very inconvenient location to work on said tires

A 1960's model manure spreader probably won't be very far from the barn when they give up, and they may go for several more years. To each his own!

I guess you like working in cow chit more than I do

I would just use them as long as they continue to hold air. IF they pop, just drag it on back to your shop for repair. Tire will be ruined so dont worry about more damage. As long as you are not running on pavement, you can drag it back with a flat tire with no problem. You dont have to work in the mud and whatever to repair it.

The tires on my TO 35 are extensively weather cracked, I had a mobile tire service stop by a few years ago to replace a leaky calcium chloride filled tube on the rear. The tech told me that, despite the cracks, they would outlast any new tires with which I would replace them....everything made more poorly these days.
I will run them 'til they pop, I just hope I'm not way out back across the creek at the time.

If you can't figure out how to get a manure spreader that's hooked to a tractor to an area to replace a no good tire, you probably ought to get out the any livestock operation that requires thinking outside the box. I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Absolutely.

I suppose, but since I never worked around cows and pigs for a living, I guess it is a mute point.

But then In the two manufacturing facilities I ran for a Wall Street company leaving checked tires to pop in a dangerous or hazardous location would have have cost someone their job due to negligence

You guessed it, there is a large difference from running a manufacturing facilities "for a Wall Street Company" and the family farm! You've probably never seen a manure spreader, much less the tire size and wheels used 60 years ago.

I actually have a steel wheeled yard art manure spreader.

You do know what they say about assuming.... right?

The good news is all this goes to prove that experience in one area does not extrapolate to all others. Postulating about running manufacturing facilities does not make you an authority on farm equipment tires or determining when they present a danger or hazard.

Just as some people who think they know and understand everything DOESN'T

My '98 blue tractor with 3100 hrs fel has the OEM 8 ply rated tires on front.

Whatever you know about highway tires doesn't work worth a damz with a farm and ranch tractor tires. Apples vs oranges.

The OEM rear tires were a 6 ply rated tire with several patched holes in them. Tires were fluid filed and began to leak around the sidewalls so they were replaced with same size 10 ply rated tires. First one 6 years ago and the last one a year later.

My hay rake is a older '81 model with OEM tires still doing its job.

Just remember one thing. If they are tubed sooner or later the cords in the tire will break and the tube will come through the side of the tire. That can create problems trying to limp back to the shop. I know this as I didn't make it when one of the rear tires on my backhoe broke. I made it a little ways before the tube went and now needed replacing as well as the tire.

Is any flat ever convenient? Are you able to decide I have an extra hour this morning,I think I will have a flat today?
And popping especially on farm tires is rarely due to cracks, but due to what was ran over/driven into the tire.

The tires on my '82 IH584 looked like **** when I bought it in 2000. 20 years later...Still look like ****.
Wish I had lots of money to throw around and buy new tires. If I did back then, I could do it again now. Think of my bragging rights of having pretty tires.
Just saying.

"I guess it is a mute point"

Those "mute" points are always a problem!
