Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 4:45AM. Rain. High 52F. Winds SE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a half an inch.

Went to look at the forecast this morning and the plots for yesterday's wind gust were still on the screen, so I grabbed a screen shot to share. Weird, huh?
I still have a about four ounces (by volume) of mercury in a glass bottle I found when I cleaned out my mom's house a few years ago. Dad probably used it for cleaning lead and copper out of rifle barrels. Wonder where I put it?
Eric's comment reminded me of a song that starts out:
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Time, by Pink Floyd
Seems appropriate here, considering the forecast, and this time in my life...
Which reminds me that I caught a very enjoyable episode of the Classic Albums series on the AXS channel the other night, this one covering the Dark Side of the Moon. It featured great interviews with the band members discussing how the album came together, with both Roger Waters and Richard Gilmore playing riffs on acoustic guitars at times. AXS has quite an eclectic selection of programming in addition to the music shows, ranging from boxing, wrestling, and art, but the two that caught my eye were Drinking Made Easy and Bikini Destinations. Now where's that remote?
Got waylaid by a phone call from an old college buddy yesterday to the tune of about an hour and a half catch up. Finally broke free when the UPS man came down the driveway with the solar rack parts. There must be another shipment coming, as the fourteen foot long bars that hold the panels in place were nowhere to be found.:confused2:
The solar contractor brought up an interesting point when we talked last week. The panels need to be oriented to face south, and that's true south, not magnetic south. I've been using satellite imagery to determine orientation, and it shows that the house is oriented pretty much east/west on its long axis. But when I use the compass app on the iPhone, it shows the orientation is off by about 35 degrees, even after I set it to show true north. So now I feel like a man with two watches, not knowing the real time, or now, direction.:confused2:
Pulled a spark plug on the van and once again got a strong spark when it was laying on the head, but it still won't start. Looking on the positive side, I suppose that makes it easier to diagnose than an intermittent problem. My money is on a fuel issue, and I'll be picking up the injector tester this afternoon.
Brought up a fresh pallet of firewood to the garage, but didn't get anything moved into the shipping container because once again, the hoops that hold the wood in place had broken loose and the repair involves restacking the wood. Rather than waste the time doing that now, I'll just leave it where it is and keep fixing them as more firewood is needed. But I do need to get going on cutting up the steel shipping pallets for use on the new plastic pallets. Yeah, in my spare time...
