Who rides motorcycles?

So sorry to hear.. get a jeep or something and take the trip anyway if you can..

Just to drive up to Alaska and back would be fun enough in my health with a friend just to be able to say I did it but on a side note Eagle would be my set destination, a high school buddy lives there and I have not seen him since 78 when he moved there. Definitely not a trip I would do on my own in a vehicle even if I was healthy but I would pay to do a fly in if I could on my own.

Boy aint that the truth, my '07 FLTRI was a shade over 20k back when I bought it new.. its only got a bit over 90k on it now.. I'll probably just keep it till I cant hold it up anymore. New ones are stupid expensive!!

My first dresser was a 81 FLT I bought in 83 and then sold it in 2009 to help pay for my daughters wedding, after all I did not need 3 Harley’s but now I kick myself for selling my Shovel, it took me to a lot of wild places and back and it really only let me down once big time when I lost a stater in Mitchell S.D. In 95, was returning home from Sturgis.

I did Sturgis once.. it was all I could stand!! Most up there could not ride, went around with their outriggers down most of the time! I should have set up a table selling shoes, I'm sure they wore them out quickly!

There are options for those that wish to keep riding but don't feel comfortable holding up a heavy bike at stops,
I am starting to seriously consider this setup, with my health and knees it's an option.

That's kind of cool, haven't seen one like that that leans before! But with a $14,000 price tag just for the conversion, I think not!

I'm thinking when I get to the point I can not comfortably hold up a touring bike to get some sort of small convertible instead... Would love an old Triumph TR6.. always loved those! Had a TR4a years ago!

My main ride 2017 Suzuki Burgman 650. Been on bikes as long as I have been on tractors. We started as soon as we could sort of reach the pedals. I am down to two bikes after years of having multiple bikes. My other bike is a Triumph Trophy SE for the times my Burgman is parked.

Don't you just get a laugh when you see newbie's with their 'wings' hanging out  Sadly, some of those 'newbie's' have been riding for a lot of years - just never learned how to ride. I've taken a number of m/c riding courses over time, including Advanced Riding Skill courses. Even so, I never achieved the skill my SO had. She had been through all of the basic courses and even the Sheriff's Dept. m/c training classes.

She and I both rode HD Ultra Classics. She could handle her's like a Pro. Me? Not so much. When my floorboards started throwing out sparks I'd begin sweating! Her? H*ll - she'd be riding with a cigarette in one hand and one foot propped up on the highway bars, just doing a little sight-seeing.

I still really enjoy watching the knee-drggers riding flying around the track at 200 mph on those GP bikes. Now, I'm better off just playing with my tractor.

Yeah, I've taught lots of those riding courses including the Advanced Riding Skills courses including the ARC-ST Class, taken a bunch of those "police training" classes also Ride Like A Pro classes. Had one of the instructors sit on the back of my bike doing the exercises so he could video it! If you get a chance to take a Ride Like a Pro class, do it!

One year we had a guy ride into one our classes in the spring with his girlfriend on the back of his bike. He was dropping her off to take the class so she could ride her own bike with him.(kudos to him for doing so). We tried to talk him into taking the course with her but he declined due to the fact he'd been riding a long time and didn't need a class!! Anyway, later that summer he showed up and wanted to take the class after all… he shyly admitted to the fact he could not keep up with her in some of the more technical stuff and wanted to learn the proper way to ride!!

I also did Sturgis once, by accident. I took a trip out to Yellowstone, and we just happened to go by Sturgis when the rally was going on. I can't attest to the general riding skills of the people there, as I wasn't there long. I rode down the main drag, turned around, and had enough.

The part that stuck in my mind was the groups of ****'s Angels and Banditos that were passing us on the interstate. Some of the women had "Propterty of _____" stitched onto the back of their jacket. I assumed it was the name of their SO. I also saw a number of them at the gas stations having a beer or two to make it to the next stop. I wasn't interested in hanging around with the general crowd.

Interesting, we ran into a few Angels on the way and way back, it was just me and the wife and we got along with them splendidly!
