Who rides motorcycles?

There are a few colleges in our area that offer motorcycle training courses from beginner to advanced, Greg. You might look to see if any near you do that. I think the one at Southern Illinois University costs maybe $50, and they provide the bikes. All you need is a helmet, gloves with fingers, and boots. With completion of the basics course, you get a certificate that you can take to the drivers facilities and have a MC endorsement automatically added with no further testing. They are also good for lowering your insurance.

Yup, I took such a course at the glenview naval air base, back when I was a teen in the early 90's. They provided the helmet as well at the time.

Upside of riding a MC..... it's totally immersive. A big part of what attracts me mentally.

Downside of riding a MC (at least till today's helmet cams came along....) most of us oldsters didn't take many pics.

So while pretty much any picture has me at "motorcycle", thanks for taking the time to post those great pics..... esp. appreciated looking out the window at snow here !

Very cool. I rode Trail Ridge Rd last August. Got stuck at the top for 2 hrs, while the did road work. Did not want to head back down and go around. Took a pic while waiting around.

My two rides, been sitting in the basement since my heart attacks and major neck surgery years ago, got my first Harley in 79. One of my to do items was to ride a KLR650 from Mn to Alaska but my Heart decided against it 9 years ago.

I concur. It is an awesome trip and worth it if there is any way you can make it work.

Oh yeah! A Harley rider will ride across town to go to a bar. A Goldwing rider will ride across the state to go get ice cream.

I resent that! I"ve owned a SilverWing, a couple of GoldWings, and a pair of Hawgs. I've ridden the Hawgs on 3 Bun Burner's and dozens of other undocumented 1,000 mile days - just for fun. The 'Wings'? Sold 'em for the price of plastic salvage.

Sorry to sound so sarcastic. The attraction of owning and riding Wings outweighs the thrill of riding one. Of course, the new prices of either, nearing the $40K range for either of the nicer ones, pretty much takes the thrill out of either one. There's a lot to be said for simply buying one of the less expensive dirt bikes these days.

Boy aint that the truth, my '07 FLTRI was a shade over 20k back when I bought it new.. its only got a bit over 90k on it now.. I'll probably just keep it till I cant hold it up anymore. New ones are stupid expensive!!
