I've avoided next Door. Every quote from it I hear here, starts with the equivalent of Be Very Afraid.

I don't see anything out there to be afraid of.

The petty bickering on next door makes FP look like a Mensa society meeting.

I wish they would make straps with a hole you can stick a 3/8" ratchet in to undo them. Or at least a BIG screwdriver. I spray them with lubricant, but it's not enough.

I either use the side of a screw driver, or a pair of water pump pliers when they get sticky. I do keep mine lubed up though, taking the straps out before spraying them with white grease.

Maybe someone that can afford it has a closet of every conceivable strap on for every possible situation. I hate people like that. Makes me afraid.

Straps are a lot cheaper than a ticket. And a law suit is a whole different risk. I do have a number of different types of straps as well as chains.

I signed up a few months ago to nextdoor ours seems to be fairly quiet two or three messages a week, the most prolific poster is a restaurant.

And speaking of Travel Trailers, wow, what is going on? I see the dealers popping up on the side of the highway more and more frequently, and then their stock grows like mushrooms. Who is buying all these things these days? And why now?

Because of the excellent economy, people have more disposable cash to spend on themselves and their families

I doubt they have disposable cash. Most bought on credit. Retired people with nothing to do and no real long term interests, so this is the FAD, what you have to do. A friend got into that, of course, bigger and bigger until he got out. Says you go park somewhere and people are not very social and stick to themselves. So you sit there looking at each other. Was also into the Bikes, and now into a pontoon boat. Quite sad.

My interests seem to be life long. I will never look for something to do, maybe barring health issues. You see it all the time, people get trailer, sits beside their house 350 days a year for five years, then moved to the end of the driveway or onto the lawn with a for sale sign on it for another five years. Same with many boats.

Hard to tell, but I bet he'd have been fine if he put the straps under the top pipe rather than over. Depending on how high that wood was stacked those steaps probably didnt have any down pressure clamping the load.

Maybe you do not have more disposable income in Canada, but many people are now having more than they had just 3 years ago. And tell me, when did this phenomena of many more campers being sold???

I wish I could use mine 15 days a year, that would be great. I have camped all my life, only recently with a trailer. I plan to sell mine in a couple years to get a different one.

Reading your multitude of posts, you seem to like to speak in very general terms, and it seems you ASSUME that all people think like you do.

My personal opinion is your assumptions are a million miles off base!

I doubt that. It's an age old human condition to find that ellusive happiness. And yet people try. I assure you, the last thing in the world I would assume is that people think like me. Not from four years of age on for that matter.

And I speak in very general terms because to be exact in your beliefs will probably mean you are wrong.

Personally I know dozens of people who have camped most of their life, and as of right now, I know more people interested in a RV or a motor home now more than ever.....
