A touch of frost for us this morning. Despite the clear pale sky above, the sun is not very forthcoming, caught up in a band of mist sitting on the horizon.

When not used at lambing time, I keep some firewood dry and close at hand in a covered pen out the back. Recently it has been getting a daily white washing from birds roosting above. Like the moles, they have pushed my tolerance too far, time to stretch some thin wire up in the roof to deter them.

DABSGT, that was good way to put the heat on and get your gun returned.
At least you gave him a present, instead of just the empty box

what a warm morning to wake up to, a real heat wave, 67 degrees outside, heading up to 73 in rain for most of day, then more seasonable cold air comes in.

Mostly no CoQ10 it messed with triglycerides Dr took me off.

I take these daily, was told to, but did not know of downside. Thanks for info. I had to get off statins due to cramping, need to watch cholesterol carefully.

spent several hours yesterday taking down inside xmas decorations, still have tree to take out and put on burn pile, have to get lights off first, all the rest is done.
Was going to do outside lights and decorations today but likely to get rained out.
christmas tree smells even more "piney" now than when put up, smells nice in house. Rather get tree out sooner vs later, cuts down on big mess of pine needles flinging
everywhere when going through doorway.

I suppose I could take the tree all the way out into the woods and let it be a habitat for something.

Made decision to put in a 36 inch tile near rv shed, over main drainage ditch, six feet deep, allowing access to far side and ten acres of pond/swamp behind my home. My landscaper said the pipe is about 800 bucks for 20 feet section. Have to wonder if I need the width, this is a little pathway into the woods. Landscaper said tile will support a lot of weight and he can do it easily within a day. He only charges 50 bucks an hour for two men, including him. And since he has several years experience in excavation, using bulldozers and excavators, frankly he'll do it way better than I could. I built the small culvert near my fruit orchard, but this is much bigger and I'm sure that piece of plastic corrugated pipe is pretty heavy. Good use for my topsoil pile but will have a truck or two of gravel coming in. The gravel is a mixture of mediums and smalls, and some dust, after several rains, it hardens up like concrete. Landscaper loves using my big Massey and so far no scratches.

My dream was always to have a path to the pond, clear out some surrounding trees so sun can come down and attract migrating birds.
Huge cypress trees coming out of pond.
Put some seating down there so one can watch the birds.
Now that I'm no longer farming I will have more time to do these other projects.
I'll build side railings out of wood for the culvert, have to protect little kids going across.

A drizzly rainy morning for us, holding right at 33F so no freezing rain or sleet yet, no power dips.
Going to be sloppy and muddy in the driveways and feedlots.
Everyone take care.

Good morning! 32˚F . Mom wants some greens so I'll take her some kale from the garden. My Christmas decorations are down and I'll take mom's tree down.

Eric, have you had the chance to use your new hearing aids in a crowded area?

Send some of that magical snow South.

The new garden raised beds should get finished this week, and I see several hours of tractor mulch hauling in-between the beds on the walkways.

Tonight is the last set of 5 card games - hand and foot - for this quarter. My last chance to move up in the rankings, currently 2 games behind first place.

Bill- I agree about Toronto drivers. They are much worse than Beantown M@$$h*le$ and almost as bad as drivers around San Jose, Costa Rica.

Nope. World rankings of the best big city drivers rank Toronto 13th out of the top 100, and in a local Canadian study Halifax was the worst. And here in the province of Ontario, the Toronto Sun reported that smaller places like Orangeville, Bradford, Woodstock, Saulte Ste. Marie, Bradford, and Orillia had the worst driving records(all given æ³¥ grades), whereas Toronto was given an é„* grade. So Bill, on your next trip down Hwy 11 and Hwy 400 to Toronto, try and avoid Orillia and Bradford, and stay away from Orangeville - otherwise, you might not make it!

And Jay, Boston is listed among America's 25 most accident prone cities (by QuoteWizaed Insurance News), but it is ranked 21st worst out of 25. (The worst is Columbus, Ohio.)

Good Morning Everyone!!!

Today’s low was a rain/freezing rain 31ºF and it is presently a rain/freezing rain 32ºF/DP = 31ºF. It looks like ~ 0.5” of ice has accreted to the tree branches so far. Wind 4/12mph. Not the best day for outdoor activities. Absolutely no traffic on the road; not even the sander.

Thomas- Nice sign.

BEF- You are killing me  Keep the pictures coming

David- Thanks for the pictures of this and all your other projects.

DABSGT- Good luck with your MIL’s move to a Memory Care Center. I managed a secure memory impaired unit. It’s the correct move. These transitions can go either way. I hope that it is a + transition and the new facility is really invested in giving a quality of life experience as well as decent personal care to their residents. Good luck

Drew- Good luck with the new project. I anticipate some pictures at some point.;)

Lou- It’s nasty outside. I hope you stay wet despite your mud.

Check- When we traveled/ate our way across your beautiful country we drove through many of those cities posted. We survived the traffic and had a great time.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day today.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

30 right now...and that's the high for today. The snow has stopped...not much on the ground...maybe an inch now. We actually had more depth when I was up earlier this morning. Prediction is for freezing rain this morning, wintry mix this afternoon and snow (1-3 inches) tonight into tomorrow.
Since no one has to go anywhere, I'll hold off on clearing the snow until later or maybe tomorrow. I prefer clearing after any possible ice
