Peanut Brittle

1 cup white Karo syrup

1 cup sugar

1 and 1/2 cups raw peanuts

dash of salt

1 and 1/2 tsp. baking soda

Combine syrup, sugar, salt and raw peanuts. Pour into electric skillet and cook

until it turns caramel color (about 350 degrees). Turn off heat and add baking

soda, stir slightly. Pour onto buttered foil and let it spread by itself. Cool and

break into pieces.

I love this recipe but use Spanish peanuts.

I just ordered peanut brittle from See's Candies in California, some of the best I ever had.

No doubt See's makes some great candies ;) . . . try the Cruzer's ^^^^^^ post 1, and I like Doofy's spin on it with the Spanish peanuts.

Does anyone remember the round, red peanut patty that was about 1/2" thick? It might have a Texas thing.

What I miss the most are "Fried Pies" not baked. Peach and apricot were my favorites.

I've made a TON of "brittle"...

I like to double the amount of peanuts, IF I use peanuts, but I've also made it with most all the hard nuts, like almonds.

I like macadamia nuts in it best!

I usually get one of those peanut patties when I stop at a Buc-ees.

Best made on a cold, clear night.

Some people just have to much time on their hands.

That post was a "whoops". I attempted to delete it, but par with the rest of my day.

I just wish I had equipment enough to mill out a couple of anvils. Who doesn't enjoy blowing things up!
