Good evening all. 29F for the start, clear, light wind. Wind became moderate, sky became clear, and high temp was 58F. Wife was up early to take stepdaughter to surgery this morning. So I got up and puttered, got a lot dome by 9. Established new bake caliper does not fit the 10 speed, got the Trek ready for riding, did some sheet metal work on stepdaughter's boy friend's grill(Christmas present) new fan in computer, got new vacuum adapter on leaf sucker, Then had breakfast. Did get a ride in, then picked stepdaughter up from surgery then short nap. Fish club had Christmas dinner party, food was ok and good company.
Bill, except for taxes I have way cheaper than you, paid $2.14/US gal for regular E10, diesel is about $2.50/US gal, and electricity is about .14/KW 24/7.
Eric hope hearing aids work well for you.
Drew without parents involved in the education process throwing money will not improve the schools.
Ron hope no surprises in checkup.
Check Scooter will not wear jackets or booties etc either. When cold (below 40F) walks go quicker for some reason

Got a super busy day/night starting with a school Christmas program at 8 ish, then two doctors appointments and going to sister in laws to wrap gifts. I could skip that one but I’d be in trouble.

Good morning, the temperature is -4°F and going to a high of 9. Wind NNE 5 mph. Sunny.

I gotta go to town yet again this week. I like going to town every day about as much as I like having a tooth pulled. I am like an old bear, I will go out IF I have to, but I would rather stay home and plow snow when the need arises. If it is an emergency, then I don't mind.

Got my tree cut up, at least most of it until I ran out of gas. I brought up a load of firewood and have another one or two left. The tree fell across the creek, so I have the lowest trunk section to figure out how to cut while making the least mess.

Good morning all. Birdsong sounds just the same this morning, but only because the hearing aids are still in the box - way too expensive for me to risk loosing while putting out hay !

Wng, good luck with the tree across the creek. I always enjoy thinking of how best to cut down a tree that is in an awkward position - it's like playing jenga with a chainsaw.

After many centuries of practice, the UK has found lots of ways to get people to pay tax . Over this time there have been some strange taxes, in 1696 a tax was introduced to make home owners pay a property tax proportional to the number of windows. It was abolished in 1852, though to this day there are still many old houses where you can see where what was once a window has been bricked up to save money.

When I have been digging around our house to put in pipes, I have come across underground foundations of what must have been earlier abandoned and built over buildings, made with bricks that are only 2" thick. Most of our walls were put up around 1800 and are made of bricks that are nominally 2 3/4 ". A tax on each brick manufactured was introduced in the late 1700's to raise money for the wars with those unruly people in America and that was the incentive for almost all brick producers to make thicker bricks.

I should really say thank you those with ancestors from that time - if they hadn't wanted to fight, there would have been far more bricks in this house and I would still be pointing them

Just hit the remote start for the truck, the timer turned the block heater on at 3:30 this morning.
