Funny. That's exactly where Canadian Money Belongs.

Nice Calm and cool clear night. Even with the unwanted, early snow, the Christmas lights sure look purdy.

Many years ago (when I was 9) my grandfather's bachelor brother died.
He was an eccentric, and did not trust banks, since he had grown up through the depression.

He owned a house with two small barns, and kept his old newspapers tied in bundles in the barns.
He had several thousand pounds of old bundled newspapers, which my parents began hauling to the dump.
The newspapers were tied together with old twine.

Several days later, near the end of the clean out, having hauled MANY bundles of newspapers out to our trailer, my dad dropped a bundle, the twine broke, and 50s & 100s fell out.
Mom and dad then broke open the remaining bundles, and found much more cash.
My parents were almost sick wondering about how much cash they had unknowingly taken to the dump.

When I bought the little farm, there was an enclosed shed on one of the buildings almost full of old newspapers, neatly bundled and tied up with baling twine. When I got around to cleaning it out, one of the strings broke and as I was gathering up the papers, found two $50 bills hidden in one. I spent the next two days sorting through all the papers, but never found anything else.

Years ago a bank in my home town had a habit of putting their cash shipment into the trash can when they got busy before they has time to process it. One day they forgot about it, and it went to the incinerator. (About 10K if memory serves me. ) The custodian was quoted as saying "If it's in the trash can, it's trash.)

I usually hit Aldis and get a few of their really oddball holiday things you can't get anywhere else. Just looked through their ads and nothing jumped out at me as a gotta have.

Anybody notice that the People of Aldis share a lot in common with the People of that other place?? Maybe that's why I stopped going but once a year or so.

C'mon, you don't find the Women of Wal-Mart appealing?

I got the turkey and some of the sweets and treats. In past years I've done the turkey, dug into the dark meat, hash and whatever. Froze the white meat for sandwiches later. Not even doing that this year. Turkey will stay ion the freezer til some other time.

Nibblin' on some of the junk, but a lot of that will go into storage too. Might work on some of it this week, between holidays.

Dinner tonight is boxed mac n cheese powder and some kind of Aldi fruit tart thing.

We head over to the Parents, right next door for Christmas dinner. The usual is Ham, Kielbasa, Fluff-Stuff fruit salad, fresh Cranberry Relish, Hot rolls, Mac Salad, Potato Salad and about 10 different kinds of Old World German cookies.

Folks are 86 and 84 so every minute spent with them is a blessing.
