American car builders wanted to go to quartz halogen years earlier, but antiquated federal law said no.

But the low cost headlights was nice. Price on halogen went way up.

My new F-350 KR has all LED head lights, tail lights, running lights, bed lights, interior lights. I'm very pleased with all.

I did get a letter from FORD this week ... that they have a recall, on my running lights. They claim they may be too bright? Whuuu?

I get that checked out at next oil change.

I got a recall notice from my FordPass key app this week saying the tail lights on my Ranger might not work all the time but nothing about them being too bright.
Recall: Some 219 Ford Rangers''' taillights might not work

The low cost may have been noice but with the speed which cars could then achieve it was very easy to outdrive your headlights.
Back in 73 we had 100w halogens in a Corolla and were hitting 110MPH on a narrow back country road. There was no way that could have been done on sealed beams. (this was in a motorsport event and the corolla had been "breathed upon")

Good evening all. 37F for the start, high thin clouds, light north wind. Sky stayed mostly clear, wind stayed light but change to south late morning, and high temp was 60F. Bike ride this morning, nap in afternoon and energy conservation.
Starting in the 80's engines were not getting the oil as dirty as older cars, so felt extended oil drains ok. My F150 ecoboost engins has the dirtiest oil at 5K I have seen in a long time.
Jay nice snow pic and enjoy Costa Rica
Drew, sorry you had the reaction to the flu shot, the extra strength sho may be more than your immune system has had to deal with in a while.
RNG would be nice if a new battery would fix your cold start issue, or even an easy way to jump battery during cold weather starts.
Rick hope they do a good job on your fence. I have to have my back fence done.
Rich nice to have you internet sorted out, why can't they train the installers to do all that?
Ted got any video of son before the hole drilling advice?:D
Often wonder what the oil life monitor actually checks to calculate oil life?
Jay sorry about pharmacy issues hope does not affect trip, sometimes I wonder how well do people remember 9/11?
ramman nice pic glad you could visit your grandpa.
prayers for all

I went to bed at halftime of the Ohio State game. Had to go back downstairs to watch when I saw they had come back.

good morning all
32 going up to 60 today, rain coming in tonight along with much warmer weather
hard to believe tomorrow will be 70, Tuesday 77 degrees. My propane supplier is already frowning...

have a long drive down to Wilmington NC today for a good friends Quaker memorial service. His wife is really shook up, understandable but
even more since she is heavily disabled from a stroke, can get around with difficulty. So her caregiver dies, the person she depended upon so heavily, and now
she has to figure out how to go on. Her daughter lives a few blocks away in Richmond which is why she just moved there and sold their home in Wilmington, but David had become Clerk (head Admin person-no clergy) in the Wilmington Meeting and they have lots of friends there. Thankfully my friend was a planner like me, and had everything in place.
So that's my day, won't get back until dark.

hope all who are ailing feel much better today.

Good morning,
the temp is 25 and going to a high of 36. Flurries (probably rain). Wind S 17 mph.

I have a town run for this A.M., then conserve energy. I may charge up the batteries for my grease gun, but don't hold your breath.

Re: headlights. I had seal beams in the front of the Freightliner and 3 years ago changed them out for LEDs. What a difference! Ever since I got the truck in 2005 (its a 2001), I have had 100 watt spot lights on top of the mirror brackets
aimed for both ditches. We call them 'moose lights'. They are very illegal. Non fluted lenses and way over the goobermint specs wattage wise. They do a good job of lighting up the ditches where the moose hide overnight. When I meet oncoming traffic, I shut them off. The cops kinda ignore the fact you have them IF you don't blind people AND more importantly don't blind the cop when he is coming at you. Whenever I was in the states, I just wouldn't use them, the same with Manitoba.

Have a safe day all.

Getting the cold my wife has, don’t know how this might effect going back to work tomorrow. She didn’t go to the neighbors party yesterday.
My throat feeling better since using Vick’s.

Guess I’ll watch some YouTube since I can’t sleep.

22 going to 48. Took Coco for a bathroom walk since we are still on skunk watch...lots of frost crystals glimmering in the flashlight beam...matching the stars.

Frank, sorry about your gramdma passing. I'd probably eat supper at 4:30 or 5:00 if my wife would "let me."

BEF, congrats on your Buckeyes winning...my Cavaliers got whupped. Hope cold is better.

Regarding oil changes, I've always done them at about half the interval recommended. Knock on wood, I've never had an engine develop a problem "where the oil touches" just things like water pumps and radiators.

We got all the outside Christmas decorating finished yesterday. More to do inside, and cutting our tree today. Split all my remaining firewood rounds yesterday...splitter was in the Christmas spirit and started on the 2nd pull. Eric, I guess I'll have to go to the gym to work on my bow-pulling muscles.

Enjoy your Sunday!
