Good evening all. 39F for the start, windy and gusty, clear sky. Sky stayed clear, wind calmed down late in the afternoon, and high temp was 56F. Chapel to start, breakfast for wife, take down old tarp (fun in the wind) and trash it. Tried to nap step daughter came over, hit doorbell, then yelled to wife, bike ride, tried to hit it but heart rate would climb past 130. Time was about 3 minutes slow for the 20 miles :(. Finished up Christmas lights.
Ron, 445 miles to go to 6K
Kyle, I'll say he has nice toys er tools :)

Bill did you plug your tractor in?
Rich, we had same type problems with att cell service, started good but were down serveral days a month for several months, changed to Verizon and all is well.
Billy sorry about the front tires, atleast they are inflated now for no cost but time and some wood is on the porch
Kyle nice list of planes, always thought the standard Senaca lacked enough roll control, no 421 time but have abit of 401/402 time and one had Robertson STOL. Nice flying airplane.

Those in New England be safe in the storm

Yeah, that darn hill is steep. It's even steeper on the downhill side of the house. I'm still searching for a track steer...

How about a track no-steer ? There is one not far from us that would be handy for hauling firewood up a steep slope.

If you still have it, you could re-purpose the donor Vanagon shell :D

Good morning all. The last few days have been at or below freezing all day and with the thermometer showing -4C/24F this morning, I was surprised to see part of the big pond still ice free, until I caught sight of two very active swans.

Ice free swans.jpg

After studying Mimi's hibiscus for about 20-30 minutes, she said she would like to draw her a picture of it to remember it. (after finding out the blooms only last a day)
Aw, that's a really nice thought. Only thing Kyle is that now you are going to get mighty worried if you ever see your daughter studying your face, talk to her mom, then start sketching ... :)

Poured first cup of coffee. 33° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 34° with cloudy skies and a brisk wind. Took almost 3 hours to get snowblower on mower yesterday. I have not done it in a few years. Used the old set of tires and wheels to put chains on. Had to take snow blade off tractor to use pallet forks to get snowblower off storage shelf. Hope I have better plans next year to get this few minutes job done. No Cyber Monday deals that I need. Lawyer and Dr. appointments today. Then do some grocery shopping while I am out.
Birds have been spending a lot of time at feeders.

All those those in the path of latest storm be safe and warm.

Good Morning All.

Good morning,
Temp is 11 and going up to 23 °F. Wind N 9 mph. Sunny.

The storm that was supposed to happen didn't. All of it went south.
Once the overnight temps dip below freezing my tractor is always plugged in. I can turn the block heater on from the warmth of my kitchen, off too if need be.

It looks like today will be a sacrificial anode changing day. I'm not looking forward to it.

Have a safe day all

40 going to 50, and rain is ending.

Kyle, that is a very special drawing.

Mostly, Christmas lights look good. 6K is right around the corner.

BooBoo is back! Thomas, should be easy tracking him now in the snow.

Went to town yesterday afternoon to go to the gym and hopefully off-process some of my Thanksgiving dinners. Saw a lot of traffic on the highway that carries overflow Interstate 95 traffic when it gets very clogged. It was raining, and I felt sorry for so many travelers.

.........................
I thought about it to see where he/she might den up,but decided no let he/she have peaceful snooze.

Thomas- Thanks for sharing the game cam picture. I have not seen any evidence of bears around here since the week before bear season which is around the time the Brogen treed one. I am more hopeful of getting 14"- 15". The models are still all over the place as to total accumulations. There is a lot of energy within this complex weather system.

No sighting bears down your way.hmmm.
If snow dumps that much snow should make bears want to den up even more so.

At one time my retirement dream was to have a float plane tied up to my dock as my home is on the lakeside.
I had the ideal 'fun' aircraft, a Piper PA14 /180 hp/ on floats that I bought at a bargain price of $4000. back then.
I was in the process of doing a major OH when a stranger arrived wanting to buy it 'as is'.
I told him,' not for sale' but $10,000. in cash as is was a persuasion hard to resist. Sold!
At that point my total outlay in repairs was a mere $100. plus my spare time.

Still think of the 'what if' had I refused that offer.

Good morning!

Wow what a morning! Total about 18 inches of snow and still coming down, but it is a mix of freezing rain and snow.

Wife is sad it was suppose to be her first day at her new job and she was nervous because she didn’t have anyone’s contact info to see if they were going to shut down. Luckily the boss texted her this morning and told her they **** the office down and her first day will be tomorrow so I guess it’s a good things she didn’t have to drive in that mess.

It was my first time plowing with my tractor I had a blast now I really need to focus on putting heat in the garage or even an electric heater has anyone used and electric heater for such a large space or have any advice?

Good morning! 33˚ clear skies. Send that snow South!!!
Today I'll redo everything I did yesterday.
When I finished lighting the big oak tree in the front I ended up with a female end at the base of the trunk and the male end is somewhere high in the tree. I was at the top of a 8' ladder with a 10' hooked pole. Take-er down-and-re-install today, grrr:smiley_aafz:

BO BO returns - yea or boo boo. He really needs to start napping more.
Mostly, 6K for the year - quite an accomplishment!
Kyle, your daughters drawings continue to amaze me with the detail.

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 5:30AM. Rain likely. High near 55F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch.
Light rain all day and night added up to an inch and a half yesterday, and with what's come down since midnight, we're closing in on three inches since the Atmospheric River took us for a ride.

I didn't know that swans were actively contributing to Global Warming, Eric.

Sorry the storm disappointed, L4N, but it sounds like several others here would be more than happy to forward their snow to you if you ask nicely...:confused2:

I'm sure you're not the first person to string a Xmas light string backwards, Don. Last time I did it, I managed to find an extension cord long enough to save face.

Maybe if you left some warm milk out for Booboo, Thomas, he'd get drowsy enough to start his hibernation?

Yesterday turned into one of catching up on electronic maintenance, and a last minute surprise. I unboxed the replacement DVR and found a fairly well done booklet on migrating recordings and settings from the old one to the new, but it wasn't working out so well. Got on the phone to tech support that got me fixed up with an undocumented procedure to move over my timers using the memory in the hand held remote, but I've had to copy recordings from the backup external HD in small groups or the machine reports a failed attempt. I also ran into an issue with one of the "smart" wall switches, that now seems to be in permanent hibernation even though it still has power. This one controls the blower on the wood stove, which proceeded to run all night on a stove that is only now cold enough for the thermostatic switch to shut off the blower motor.

Then around 6PM I got an email from the solar guy with a list of equipment and labor activities, which he called a scope document, and on which I found several small errors. But there was enough info there to allow me to update the documents needed for the building permit application, and with a little luck I'll get the changes made and submitted this morning. Not much chance getting the work done by year's end, but he says I'll still qualify for the Federal tax rebate this year.

Hope everyone's week and month gets off to a great start, and those dealing with winter weather take it easy!

There was talk of GPS earlier on----

3 or 4 times now I've had cars shoot down my drive and almost into the house.
Then they get upset at me, LOL, why --blame his GPS!
One time it was late night and I had to get dressed, plug in the tractor to pull him back up hill.
Fortunately he missed my car and there was enough space for the tractor to get by and haul him up and out.

GPS seems great to get U back but not great to take U there.

A 30.30 would put the bear to sleep..............................permanetely.

.42 of rain, still have showers around with 44°.
I stood up from the sofa yesterday, kinda stumbled, so I was going to sit back down, one leg gave way, I twisted to my right and grabbed for the sofa, which I missed. Ended up on my knees and nose, skinned my nose and knuckle, stood up and declared how ridiculous it was, got cleaned up and went on my way. Still not sure what exactly happened. Got a nice band aid on my nose though.
Hope y’all faired better. LOL
