Good evening all. 27F this morning, clear sky, calm wind. Brisk and gusty south wind, clouded up quickly, and high temp was 46F. Have another cold front schedule for early morning passage, Wife and I are supposed to play couples golf tomorrow afternoon. Groom ashes and resue the fire, Men's Meeting this morning. After lunch, hit small bucket of balls on range(very rusty), then bike ride and poke the fire.
Randy congrats on new tractor, is Ellen worried about the competition? ;)
Davud, good luck with new inverter project, sounds like there is a lot to sort out.
Safe trip Drew, have fun and stay warm!
Bill good to hear cat is responding to treatment.
Don we are forecast for two more nights below freezing.
Hawkeye, nice progress on back, and written procedures for new job, what will they think of next?
RNG hope you get container squared away soon.
David what are meters for?
Randy good luck with dentures.
RNG high school buddy's dad had a brand new 1934 Waco with 275 hp radial engine. He decided to baby it and rings never seated, oil concumption was about 2-3 quarts/hour. Had to do top overhaul, get cylinders rehoned, new rings, flew it hard enough to seat rings in 10 hours, engine had 100 + hours going into top overhaul.
prayers for all.

Mostly

The meters are old house watt meters
1 shows all the kWh usage to whole house.
2nd is subset of #1 used by the cottage
3rd is kWh from the generator runs

Of course, no monthly billing associated with any.

18 heading to 50 they say, hope my sprayer wand survives, this the day to drain the tank, hoses, wand and broadcast nozzle. Hope it’s not too late.

Breaking in engines is tricky, but the biggest thing is avoid steady speeds/RPM for the first 10-15 hours and stay between 1000 and 4000 or so RPM. But constantly vary. If you have an old fashioned flat tappet cam that has to be broken in too, or run in as we called it. That required keeping RPM from 1500-3500, with no idling, varying up and down for 30 minutes or so, depending on cam profile and valve spring strength.

Have a good one, prayers all around.

21 going to 45. Where'd November go?

Ground so hard even the skunk didn't come around to dig for grubs under the bird feeders.

Randy, hope your equipment didn't freeze.

Had a good hike to the river yesterday. Trees in that woods are mostly oak, hickory, and beech, all at about their peak of color. Was fun to see Coco jump into the river even when the air temp was 34.

Spent some time in the afternoon reading over changes to the 2020 version of my Health insurance plan...mostly positive changes so I'll stick with it.

Good morning. A great start to the day for me, seeing a barn owl jinx effortlessly through 3 crows that were trying to mob it before gliding into trees.

Toppop, congrats, look forward to seeing the pics. To my eyes nothing looks better than a new Massey in shiny red paintwork.

Yesterday I went to see some good friends who are recovering - from holidays ! Just over a year ago the husband had an ear infection at the start of their trip to Turkey. Within a couple of days he was in the operating theatre, then in an induced comma for a week while his brain recovered, followed by another nightmare 2 weeks for his wife who was unable to talk with anyone outside the hospital as her mobile phone was disconnected due to the high costs she was making on calls to arrange to fly him home. Once back further scans confirmed the surgeons had done an excellent job, so this year they were determined to return and finish their holiday. Got to admire their spirit ... only this time, while returning home, he thought perhaps his wife's speech was a little odd. Next day she was critically ill in hospital, in an induced comma while tests confirmed she had encephalitis. Six weeks of intensive drug treatments later she has made an almost total recovery from this rare condition. They need a rest from rests.

Groom ashes and resue the fire
:confused2: If flames have died, I try a little more kindling.
Didn't know their was a legal approach - do you rub 2 lawyers together ? :)

Good morning!
22 and the high will/should be 30 °F. Wind S 15 gusting to 24 mph. Flurries, a couple of inches of them, today.
It is going to be warmer today and tomorrow than it was yesterday.

Maybe I can get some more wood into the basement. The window the wood goes into is right beside the water lines, so I wait until the temps are up close to 32 F, and get a good fire going in the basement stove before opening that window.

I've got another town run as well as the dump to do.

After that, I think energy conservation will be in order.

Have a good day all

good morning all. 20 degrees in Milton DE, high of 48.
Yummy dinner at restaurant in Baywood country club, which you can eat at without being a member.
The Clubhouse at Baywood
Headed out later today when it warms up to check out several rv campgrounds right near the ocean here, one part of a big park.
Should get some good fresh air and some walking, instead of sitting and eating....
plus I just have to see the ocean and walk on the beach or nearby.

friends gave me their copy of Texas state travel guide and said I had to keep going a little and see San Antonio. Lots to study in the book, very helpful pointing out points of interest. Later today we will go over my entire trip and I'll be taking lots of notes. They have done this numerous times, real travelers.

hope you all have a nice day.

rub two lawyers together
I had to chuckle at this, this was how I was born...;)

still waking up, house is 72, warm for me, my bedroom is usually 68 so I had to throw off most of the covers last night.
took a nice shower this morning, they have a soft water maker and my that's different in the shower, the suds keep sudsing and you really
have to rinse to get it all off. Shows you how much hard water cuts down on suds...which I have at home.
Speaking of home, gale warning out and several days of hard rain coming. Should be nice and sunny here.

Good morning. It's 41° and raining here. High should be about 46° and looks like we'll see rain most of the day. It misted rain off and on all day yesterday.

Yesterday I finished cleaning up and leveling areas where 4 recent burn piles were. Nice working in tractor ... with a cab.

IMG_1022.jpg

IMG_1023.jpg

IMG_1024.jpg

I didn't level one area the last two time I built burn pile so ended up with a nice pile of dirt / ash that I'll use, to fill holes in our pastures.

IMG_1025.jpg

Looks like another work inside the shop day today. Maybe light another burn pile if winds stay calm.

We got initial results from our recent VFD fundraiser Chili Cookoff and raffles and looks like we'll be adding almost $16K to the Building Fund.

We're hosting our 1st Annual Youth Hunt this weekend in conjunction with TPWD. We'll have about 20 kids who either have never shot a deer or some that have never been hunting at all. We doing this for the kids and to reduce our doe population. Bucks are off limits ... for anything but binoculars. The kids will camp at our VFD / Community Center then spread out to deer stands, on several of our ranches. We (VFD) are hosting a hamburger / hot dog dinner on Friday evening and brisket and trimmings dinner Saturday night. Our VFD Auxiliary will take care of breakfasts on Saturday / Sunday and Saturday lunch. It should be a great weekend.

Eric ... sorry about your friends issues. Maybe they stay clear of Turkey. Last time I was there was about 7 years ago. We removed the dual drilling derrick from a new ultra deep water drillship to move under the Bosporus bridge at Istanbul. It was headed up the Bosporus Strait, into the Black Sea, to drill exploration well for Exxon Mobil.

Drew ... sounds like you trip is going well. Let us know if the Texas Crew can get you any info for your future trip.

Buppies ... Sorry to hear about your employee. Too young.

Hoping for an excellent "Friday Eve" for everyone.

Prayers for all.

Do they have any future plans to return to Turkey? I sure hope not!

Thanks Rick. I also got a map of old town Albuquerque, which I'm told is worth seeing.
Might know someone in the area to give me a tour...;)
Plus a nice booklet on Route 66 places to see.

To keep the music playing, Luckenbach is only 63 miles North of the Alamo. Of course between Fort Worth and San Antonio about 10 miles off 35 is Sun City! That Fort Worth Stop may have you thinking of moving to Texas!?

Now that breakfast looks good!

Good morning! 38˚F misty wet outside, North wind at 3mph only getting to 44˚F today before dropping to freezing in the morning.

Got a bale of Alfalfa hay to cover my newly sprouted snow peas and cilantro. They survived the hard freeze with a towel on them. The hay will also protect the potatoes when I plant them in February.

Trail blazing is scheduled for tomorrow to get us all out of hibernation after this 4 day cold spell.

Drew ... you might look into a short side trip, north of Albuquerque, to see Sandia Peak? There used to be a pretty good restaurant, called High Finance, at the top of the Tramway. High Finance was torn down and they've been rebuilding everything up there so, I'm not sure if it's all done yet for this ski season. The views going up right before sunset and going down, after dark are pretty amazing.

When you get near Winslow, take the Business 40 exit, off I-40. Standing on the Corner Park will be on your right, at Kinsley Ave. You should have no problem street parking your RV. They've added Glenn Frey's statue since our last visit.

Lots to see in old Santa Fe as well.

My son camped at Delaware seashore state park this fall and liked it.
