A quick look on parts tree shows PLATE, GUIDE Part# 32 146 09-S Note: (AFTER S/N 3633510943) Is that what you are referring to? So we discussed the reasons why push rods bend early on. What did you find out?
it's probably a fix they used because of a problem that shows up after a certain amount of time.. they would not add that if it wasn't needed..I don't know that it makes a difference, but my engine is SV735-0011. The plate shows up in both parts lists. Like I mentioned earlier, I pulled the valve cover off the other side and found no guide plate on that side either.
studs pulling out, or nuts loosening could do that. besides the usual, which has been suggested.. I'd imagine the guide plates prevent the push rods from wandering where they are not supposed to be, preventing problems..Well, I'm going to order one for each side. Then I still need to figure out if I have an issue beyond the push rods to see why the one bent.
try locktite on the nuts and bolts too, to keep anything from loosening up..It's well worth a try. I'll let you know when I get the parts in
Grrrrrr. So I had to wait forever to get the needed parts. I received them two days ago and attempted to install them today. The push rods are approximately 1/4" to long. E-replacementparts.com has two different numbers listed for my engine. I wrote to them and asked which one to purchase. I purchased their recommended item. If I were one of the seven dwarves, I would not be Happy. I'd be Grumpy. :smiley_aafz:
BTW. I ordered the guide plates even though my engine was built before they were used. I figure having them is probably a good thing.
I completely forgot to post the final result. I received the correct push rods. Everything is back together and running well. Just in time for snow blowing.
