.... I would expect a strobe or I've even seen stop/turn light bar assemblies on large rear overhangs.

Is that a strobe beacon laying on the back seat? I wonder if it was on the back.

Looks like pulp wood and if so those trucks probably run there all the time. I also think it looks like a beacon in the back seat. Good thing he was leaned over!

I am sure he dropped something in his shorts after the fact

I was wondering what that was. Yes it is a battery powered strobe.

Truck driver would be in big trouble around here for allowing logs to stick out like that.

And one heck of a light surviving being shoved through a car! I figured it was already in the truck based on the fact it looked to be intact.

Shows you that your personal concerns are more important than what is in front of you . I am sure loads like that are common . We are in the world of no driver vehicles already .

Saw this today on the freeway while driving with a co-worker. I asked him to take some photos as I was driving. More WTF than wrong...

Looks like he needed just a bit more height. Where there's a will there's a way!

Or a smaller truck. I have seen that around here as well. If it's done right it's not unsafe. It just looks bad. Iran old truck. Sometimes you need to go with what you have when money is tight.

It's a railroader. The top of the blue bars have STOP signs for an engineer. I imagine these are track lock-out signs and the large steel items are derailleurs in case of a workzone incursion
Looks almost like it's setup with a flip down ramps to act like a dovetail and drive something longer than the bed into the bed of the truck.

Makes sense. We live in front of the old Conrail Yard that is now owned by Norfolk Southern. It is one of the largest manual switch yards in the world, and it is a "hump yard" that brings railroad nuts in from all over the country to park and take pictures. I actually have a drone video flying over the yard and watching them drop cars off of the hump.

The result of an unsecured load. He had OSB in the back with sacks of concrete on the cab end of the OSB. That's all. Half of the OSB and the concrete bags slid right out when he started up. He was by himself and a guy in the other lane stopped to help him resulting in the road being blocked for awhile. So, in addition to straps to keep stuff moving forward, also need straps to keep things from moving back.
