Crated weight was 1650lbs. At the limit with my pallet forks , actually had to take a few things off the front of crate to lift. Crate was 88inches so somewhat out there. Once on the ground, easier lift from side.

Tried to dig a bit. Tried.

Never had this happen in my short ownership. I think it's just that the ground is too hard. I point the BH teeth straight down and lower the boom. It hits, stops, then starts to lift the back of the tractor, just like it would on a paved road or driveway. No penetration. I don't think it's hydro power since it lifts the tractor.

If I curl and pull the dipper in, it'll scratch the surface but not really penetrate deeply.

I got down about 4 inches with no trouble before hitting that hard sublayer.

Tried with a regular shovel and I can't even get it to break the surface at all.

We had so much rain that kept the ground wet for so many months, then it stopped and turned dry. All that wet/damp clay hardened like rock.

Life was so much simpler when a normal guy could still buy and detonate high explosives.

If im trying to trench even if its not that hard i will remove all but one ripper from box blade and drag it through the ground a couple times first can get it down a foot and marks the path of trench if just a hole just drag it back and forth across where want the hole! I plan to build a one ripper tooth attachment for my backhoe that has a sharpened cutting edge seen one this way for getting through the hard stuff and cutting roots around a stump!P1010403-L.jpg

Got a little warm today. Air temperature around 80-85, so much lower than recent weeks. Doing some mowing in Low and 4WD, up and down some moderate hills in tall grass, but not real tall. About 45 minutes in, I noticed the needle climbing. Mostly up in the high range of the white area, not into the red. I was done anyways, so I dropped in 2WD and High and headed back to the house. Pulled up and the needle was just about to the red, but not quite. Idled down to 1500 or less, opened the hood and pulled the screen. Had quite a bit of fluff, but not fully plugged. Coolant overflow bottle was mid level, not full/overflowing or empty.

Needle started dropping and settled at the blue line mid-point in the white area. Let it idle a few more minutes, then shut it down.

Didn't think to check the rear hydro connector mentioned above.

Don't have much else to do for the next few, so I may putter it around the yard a bit.

You HST or Gear? HST generates more heat.

Mounted new FM BH8 backhoe today for 1st time. Just picked it up Tues. Took a few days to assemble due to wx and other things.
Seems very well built and very nice fit and finish. My Kioti bh was a subframe so this was quite different. Have to be very close to hookup PTO for hydraulics. I can see where having a proper dolly will be quite an asset. Thinking sometime in future I may convert to a subframe, but would have to custom build.

Controls are ISO configuration, so I either relearn or change plumbing. A bit counter intuitive that dipper movement is opposite of valve.

Didn’t get any productive work done as current project requires just a small bucket or maybe the ripper. Unfortunately neither would mount, bushings on inside of mounting plates.

Will be contacting dealer for resolution
