Storm Area 51

If you really want to spend sometime in an airport,
throw a soft sided suitcase into the bed of a farm pickup in the spring that has had sacks of fertilizer and cans of diesel fuel in it.
When that suitcase goes through the scanner you will be taken of to the side and every single item will be removed from it,
and unfolded, unrolled, rumaged thru and in general finger f--ked till they can't waste anymore time with it.
Oh and you will miss your flight.

I am glad I will likely never have to air travel again in my lifetime. I no longer work for a fortune 500 company, and I can drive anywhere else I want to go. And I am of the age I don't want to go to many places. I remember air travel, and they are not really fond memories. Yep people telling you where to go and when to do it. Sitting like cattle in cramped up seats for long periods of time. Yeah, don't miss it much. I know your suitcase story was not too funny at the time, but it does paint sort of a humorous picture.

Yea it was an expensive royal pain when it happened, it is somewhat humorous now.
I am also of the age were flying doesn't happen much and I'd much rather drive, I don't mind flying I just don't like airports and TSA agents are guaranteed to irritate me.
My first flying experience was July of 1970 from AFEEs induction center to South Carolina.
Back then and for the next 10-15 years flying was enjoyable, pretty stewardesses and the first 4 was usually Military Standby which was usually well treated.
Back when we walked out to the aircraft at many of the airports and it was a nice way to travel it sure as shooting has gone downhill since those days.

yea, I have flown around 70 flights the last two years before I retired, and I dont think I liked any one of them, and only looked forward to the ones going home!

I was not trying to mix apples and oranges when I brought up airline security check issues and possible new firearm legislation but it is a viable example
If they can make you take off your shoes before you get on an airplane...they can also make you jump through hoops to pass a new background check to buy a firearm that has a particular classifications etc..

You would have to pay me a good amount of money to travel anywhere. And buy an expensive enough seat that a todler won't be kicking my seat!

I hate flying and will drive two days to avoid a two hour flight, I also hate being told that I have a fear of flying, I don't, I just detest being cramped, being kicked and having inconsiderate passengers leaning back and crushing my legs plus airport security who always seem to target me, I must look like a terrorist or maybe it is just my bad attitude when stopped.

Yes, the going home ones were the best. I remember one late flight coming back in to Springfield (SGF) the plane was not very crowded and I had a seat by my self in the row. I folded up the armrest between us and slobbed out across the seats. The only half way comfortable flight I can remember.

I was on a terrible Air Transat charter flight back from London some years ago. At six feet, there was zero leg room and probably the seat in front of me was the only broken one on the aircraft with a heavy guy sitting in it that kept moving around crushing what was left of my knees. I was starting to get quite violent, puhing the chair forward!

That, and just a few seats back from the washrooms, which on a transatlantic flight, after breakfast, is not a good place to be.

I do not like relinquishing all control and authority over to the airline when I get in that flying tube, and knowing their lawyers have already decided what my life is worth if something happened.

I guess I was fortunate, I have had many flights where I had either a whole empty row or at least an empty seat beside me.
But when I did not, being a tall and large man, coach seats seriously suck.

I was upgraded to first class a few times, that was nice!
