What is a "T-Coil" System ?

WiFi sort of !

I have Hearing Aids from the VA, they connect to my Phone via Bluetooth... best idea ever, especially when using the "Waze App"; the voice of my English speaking director, comes through the hearing aids... when I use them !

I haven't heard of this "T-Coil" thing before !

Thx / Ltr

The hearing aid technology class in the computer club was very informative.

what? eh?

Looks like I should attend...

hours and hours of mowing, hot day, feel a little baked now, nice to sit down.
Mowed lawn, then mowed the "far side" and roadsides.

I've mentioned before that this area is dominated by two families, the Woolards and the Alligoods.
Well one of the older Woolards stopped by yesterday as I was working on the motorhome and invited me to this year's
country tractor parade, where each year a bunch of tractors just drive all over the place. He mentioned something about 20 miles this year.
Geez at 5mph (put the slowest up front) that's a lot of driving around.

I thought that was very nice. He then mentioned if I brought my cab Massey perhaps I could lead the parade or end it, they want a big tractor with
lights at each end. Well.....when I mow the roadsides I turn every light on in that tractor, that's like six lights forward and two rear, plus the flashers, and clearly
this have caught the attention of the local farmers. They were clearly impressed with my light show of winkey blinkeys.

So the little Massey will have to stay home, pouting probably. And if I take up the rear, I also have a portable magnetic strobe light to put in the rear.
I do not want some fool running in to the back of me on a blind curve where they run up on me. We have some corners around here that could happen very easily.

All of this may be moot if I don't get a go ahead from my insurance company. They have already gone on record saying I can take it on the road around the block to get to the far side of my property, since there's a pond/swamp in the middle, and yes I can mow the roadsides along the way. Now I have to go back and figure out how to get liability for this. Physical damage is easy, never did specifically insure the new tractor and maybe this will require that. But getting liability coverage
may not be so simple. Folks do it all the time and never think of insurance. Well I used to teach this stuff and I'm not going broke in retirement due to some
loophole in my policy. The fine print taketh away...

so as I drink a nice iced coffee I'll email my insurance agent, who I'm quite sure knows all about these tractor parades.
The main town one goes right past his office door. I'm quite sure he has dealt with this before.
And he's a good guy and knows I don't want a three hundred dollar policy to drive in one parade...

T coil is a simple antenna in hearing aid that picks up a direct magnetic signal that is transmitted at close range, so instead of amplifying a noise, it gets directly transmitted. On old hearing aids, there was a t setting on the switch, which i didnt know what it did until today.

Thunk of it as an old version of bluetooth, lol.

Wifey decided to join me for the “Supply Run” which then morphed to include lunch at a local diner. Classic diner food; my corn beef reuben is not “sitting well” at the moment. Maybe it was the onion rings.:embarrassed:

I definitely need hearing aids. I have yet to do anything about it other than reading mailed hearing aid sales and marketing literature. I need to start researching this.

Costco, best value by far.

I so miss not having a Costco nearby. Instead Amazon gets it and delivers it to my door. But often Amazon is no bargain at all.
Nearest Northern Tools is a long drive too. Even Harbor Freight is next town over, a store so jammed with merch it's hard to walk around.
I also miss my local Ace Hardware store closing for good. I would always drive downtown to support their business. I would take the amazing service versus a lower price. Not any more. So I've learned I have to start going to Walmart, all that's left. At least Walmart has better coffee beans than Food Lion, and much better pricing on certain things.

Walmart's little fruit pies are 50 cents and Food Lion sells similar pie for a buck.
Half price for that artery hardening diabetic delight so for sure take a bunch home.
I love those things but they sure don't love me.

BEF- Thanks for the info. Wifey dropped "our" Costco membership once she retired as the closest Costco is too far away w/o the 86 mile round trip commute. She joined BJ's as there are 2 within 24 miles. BJ's might do something similar.

Those new units can run into some serious $. I suspect my enhanced Medicare plan will pay little with many limitations as to approved products.

Maybe I should start with an ear trumpet.

Dr appt was my yearly physical, so more blood work, etc. Was in afib, which is not unusual for me.

Dr said im the 4th GBS he's seen this year, and probably had seen only 2 in all the years before, and hes been practicing a long time.

He said one of the first GBS he ever saw was before the ivig treatment. The person was on ventilator to breath, and they just had to let it take it's course. He told me he thought the guy would die. But he said he ran into that guy later, he had mostly recovered, but it took a long long time.

Dr thinks im doing good, and gave pretty good assurance my nerve pain would go away with time. Just will take awhile.

He signed off in my ADA disability request to the end of the year, just in case i need that long. Im trying to extend STD to oct 6, then will need LTD after that.

Btw, saw my ivig treatments were over $12k per dose, x 10.

Im on the online portal system, i saw my urine test results as soon as i got home.

Went to mission BBQ for lunch, even wheeled in to eat.

Home internet been down over 3 hrs now.

Newest style Costco kirkland hearing aids were at least half what i paid for older analog model from a hearing place. He has had them 3-4 yrs now i think. TV transmits to them with a bluetooth attachment for the tv.
Well worth a membership just to buy them.

Got my wife's hearing aids. Thinking of taking them into Sam's Club to see if they can be cleaned and programmed to my ears. I actually hear pretty good except for sounds that are close to my tinnitus.

Jay they went over all the newest over the counter devices and which ones work. They will put the PowerPoint presentation up in a few days. If you are not quite ready to spend $2500 these can range from $100 to $500.

Does anyone have insurance that covers hearing aids?

Mine doesn’t cover them.
We have a Sams club in town and a BJs about 25 miles away, no Costco.
Went to eat Chinese with friends tonight, brief shower but still humid.
BEF, keep getting better.
Prayers for all.

".... The person was on ventilator to breath, and they just had to let it take it's course. He told me he thought the guy would die. But he said he ran into that guy later, he had mostly recovered, but it took a long long time."- BEF Good luck with the STD transition to the LTD process. Your benefits which you deserve and the effective management of your neurologic pain may take a long time in coming. I had a similar experience and recovery. Having had 16 maybe 18 IV lines via 3 maybe 4 pic's going into me and living on a ventilator machine for +2 weeks put a new perspective on life. Once I could start breathing to some degree on my own I could make that ventilator machine literally rock  I looked like a fly caught in a spiderweb; but many years later I am here posting. I really hope and pray your docs figure out the driving forces soon. Something is messing with your auto-immune system functions. You posted a pattern about late afternoon symptoms. I hope today was manageable. Good luck.

Same here, Ron. While I have quite diminished level in my left ear, the range is still pretty even until it gets up around the squealy range of my tinnitus. My Wife will often ask me about high-pitched noises, which I almost never hear.

We still occasionally get hearing aid stuff in the mail for her grandmother, which she usually just slides across the table to me.

Just had a small pop up shower. Congrats on your rain, Buppies.

BEF, was thinking of you this morning on the interstate on the way to Virginia Beach...saw a window sticker on the back window of a big Ford pickup...said Mission BBQ...turns out you went there today.

Glad to hear from you CWB Wyo. I love snow, but it is just a bit too early for it.

Rick, I'm the Orioles fan...but was an Astros fan growing up as a kid, so still pull for them, except against the O's. BTW, Pitchers can't bat, even in the NL...well they bat, but don't hit. Verlander grew up and played in high school about 20 miles from here...glad he went to the Astros. Did you see a new single season home run record was set last night? Turns out it was an Oriole that hit it...his bat will go to the hall of fame.

Anyone a Veteran, retire military, try the VA, from what I gather Hearing Aids are free.

Something to think about.

Busy day that I didn't get much done just one of those days rain on and off every time I went out to do something. Brushed the dogs, repaired the pressure washer.
Did watch a Yankee Double header not doing to bad this year for mostly a second string team
Well think it's bed time before I start watching an Audie Murphy movie.
Hope for nice weather tomorrow so I can test the pressure washer.

No doubt that NYY, Houston and LAD are the best teams this year, and it’s true that the Yankees still have 12-14 guys on the DL. Sometimes the chemistry is better with the backups, they have the best record in the MLB so something is working.

Oops ... I was thinking it was BEF.

"Turns out it was an Oriole that hit it."

Had to look that one up.

Orioles’ Jonathan Villar hits record-setting 6,16th home run of MLB season, sending his bat to Hall of Fame - Baltimore Sun

Not sure anyone can catch Pete Alonso and Mike Trout.

My dad has VA hearing aids. They are the older analog type, nothing modern from the VA. I think if he had a good set, it would help him a lot. But he wont spend money on them if he can help it...
