Friend hauls Redwood out of the Santa Cruz mountains and he has the same rig and amazing the terrain he covers in a day's work...

I am willing to bet that most of places outside of the PNW don't need to drive a lot of switchbacks, and the hills are "small" enough you can skid the logs out to a "straight shot" logging road. Do people outside of the PNW even use cable yarders?

Then too, what the mills take affects what and how you haul: tree length, log length, pulp, chips; conifers or hardwoods...

That's very interesting. That is all we see around here for hauling logs out of the forests. You do occasionally see a flatbed with log bunks going down the road, but it is rare indeed. The logging roads out west generally require a truck that can do well on narrow windy roads.

And that's why. We usually have a fairly accessible place to haul out of. Even in our mountains they build roads that the normal log trucks can go down. The ones with the fifth wheel trailer that are 45 foot long.

No yarders really around here. If your in a big swamp they still may use High Lead Logging but not normally. Most swamps that I know of here are shovel logged.
If you don't know what this is that's what they did on the show "Swamp Logging" like 5 years ago. The show Followed Goodson All Terrain Logging out of Coastal NC.

OK - 8 days ago I sent an email to the container seller who invoiced me for the trucking company's extra time charge. I reminded them that I was given a flat rate at the time of sale.
And....
I request a prompt response.

I'm not trying to rip anybody off but my acceptance of a larger flatrate shipping amount protects me from things like inexperienced drivers. I think Dave got it right, that the seller pitched flat rate to me, but hourly to the trucker, in hopes of "winning" the extra.

OK so should I go with "no response = no invoice?"
------or potentially open it up again with ----
an email stating "due to no response to my inquiry, I consider this matter closed."

I would keep all the necessary emails and invoices for future reference, and consider the matter case closed until (if/when) you hear from them again

So you're saying let sleeping dogs lie, requesting a prompt response is all I needed to do. Its not a complicated issue requiring more than a week. We're done. And even dunner as time passes. So agreed, the ball is in their court.

Only problem is I don't like things hanging over my head. But 1week no response -- pretty sure its dead.

Thats what I would do.

Legally, I am sure it dont dismiss it from further action on their part if they wanted to presume the matter. But dragging things out certainly dont do them any favors.

The next one I no longer had the loader dozer on site and built some axles that bolted to the container corner pockets, and winched it up the access road.

I need to move a 40 ft. container with a Ford 4000 (3 cyl. diesel). Can you turn "gentle" corners with your "four corners straight wheels" design and can you post a drawing with dimensions of your design (...because I hate to redesign the wheel and it looks like you are turning quite a sharp left turn in your 3rd pic! Lol)?

BTW, I would have posted some similar online versions of shipping container corner wheels and I have found (all without dimensions) but can't seem to find any way to post them from this 'droid. :-(

Weight of 40ft is 8800 lbs. so each corner wheel has to be built for half (4400 lbs) which is easy for a non-hwy device.
Common road-going axles like a car trailer can be 5200/axle 2600/wheel at a low level.
4400 is easily doable for your project.
If you have to scrub the tires around a turn can you shovel a few inches of pea gravel in the tire path?
Or jack it up on 2 blocks in the center and pivot at container center, which topples the blocks but maybe you have to do it a couple times.
