My interpretation of reserve bid has been “If I can’t get what I want for it I’ll just GIVE the darn thing to my brother in law instead”

the problem with that is people will only pay what it's worth, and you will wind up not being able to sell it. how could someone have a reserve for higher than people will pay for something, and expect to sell it??.:mur:

Believe it or not there are people who buy things with the idea of keeping them for years to come and NOT the idea of reselling the item ASAP..

I have no opinion on whether the price is right or not. As a previous member stated, the 'right' price is the amount the seller is willing to take and the buyer is willing to pay. What I do want to see is that metal pole building that has housed this tractor for 33 years! That's a well made metal pole building! Actually, I do need a metal pole building, so my point is not frivolous.

In cases like that what it was worth to ME to keep and use (perhaps only occasionally) was MORE than it’s ACTUAL worth.

Not necessarily the best financial choice but a personal one. Everyone has their own situations and reasons for pricing.
