Yes for backdragging and it will also protect against wear on your bucket edge. Snow removal I'm not so sure about. We don't get snow here. However, the under edge of any toothbar has a curved piece of steel where the bar attaches to your bucket and several 'hooks' that clip into the bucket edge, so they will scrap the ground before the leading edge of the bar touches the ground. I would think that if you are scraping pavement or concrete you'd want to remove the toothbar and put on an edge guard. The good news is that the removal of a toothbar is a 5 min or so operation. Remove a bolt on each end of the bucket and lift it off. They are heavy so when lifting use your legs and not your back. Ask me how I know that! It is a superb product and will add a lot of strength to the lower edge of your bucket. Go to any rental place and look at the buckets on FEL. Most will be shaped like a smile instead of straight. This comes from using your bucket as a pry bar, something we all do, but rental equipment gets the worst abuse. The toothbar helps maintain your bucket's integrity. I have used the traditional forked toothbar and the bxpanded and much prefer the latter.
