Does anyone have any feedback on this trailer? I'm looking for a 10K trailer to transport my Kubota L3710 with FEL and loaded tires behind my Ram 1500 (8000# tow capacity). Talking with Messicks, my tractor +fluids + FEL + implements + filled tires, etc is probably pushing 6,000#, so they strongly recommend a 10K trailer for a margin of safety. Also, I'd appreciate a narrow-ish and 16'-18' trailer based on my property and where I need to maneuver it. FWIW, I'll also be using this for hay and for lumber.

It looks like you would be over or right at your towing capacity with that trailer. It is listed 2150# empty.

Maybe an aluminum trailer would help you stay under the tow capacity?

I think you will do just fine with a 10K trailer, as long as you have good working electric brakes on both trailer axles.
If you have 2 -5200lb.(std. rating size) axles you can also allow another 1000lb. for tongue weight.
Your Ram 1500 will likely not have enough power though, if you are trailering in the PA hilly terrain.

I have darn near the same setup (10k Tuff Trailer, Ram 1500) and have hauled my LS XR4155HC w/filled tires and FEL over some pretty hilly terrain (~500 miles from Oregon to near Spokane WA) without any issues.

My loaded weight (including trailer) was pushing 7500# necessitating a load redistributing hitch.

Power isn’t an issue with the Hemi in the Ram-the weak link is the multi link rear suspension and rear axle that limits you to around 9k ( in my case 8800#) towing capacity

I have an 18-foot Warrior. Seems like a good quality unit. Ramps are very stout. I like that is only 96" wide total and relatively low but without a dovetail to drag on my steep driveway. It's also painted and not powder coated. I refused to get a powdered trailer. I have hauled up to about 6000 pounds and it pulls and stops well.

Thanks. This is very helpful. Trailering the tractor would not be an every day thing, maybe a couple times/year and mostly less than 50 miles, so I think I'd be o.k. pushing the limits of the truck and driving cautiously. Mostly it would be for hauling hay, lumber and firewood.

Thanks for the real world experience. I too like the somewhat narrower width and lack of beaver tail on this unit. I'd really love a deckover, but that's not in my budget.

The Warriors are great equipment haulers. Lots of guys around here (just west of York) use them especially for skid steers, mini excavators, and compact tractors.

Messick's will treat you right but why not make the short drive to the CAM manufacturing facility to check them out? They are about 1.5 hours west of you in Waynesboro. My buddy actually spec'd his trailer out through Finch's but then picked it up right from the factory.

No problem-I don’t trailer that heavy very often either but it doesn’t feel as though I am really near the vehicle limits in terms of braking or horsepower/torque-as I mentioned, I’m pretty sure the real limitation is the multi-link rear suspension and the rear axle/rear wheel hub configuration on the 1/2 ton class pickup.

One thing you will note is you won’t pass too many gas stations when hauling at a large percentage of your GCVWR

Up in our area, Cam trailers are very popular. They are a solid build quality..I know several guys that have had them for years and use them everyday.

Hmmm... Sounds interesting. They are only 1.5 hrs away. Was your buddy able to see tour the inside of the factory or did he just pick up the trailer?

Don't know about the decking, probably not full 2"
Cross members are 3" channel.

This model is definitely a little "trimmed" down compared with their standard angle or channel frame equipment haulers. But heck, I'm not going to be running it full time or cross country.

Yes, I found that the braces are 3" channel but am still looking for wood thickness and brace spacing. I too would like a narrower trailer.

Tongue is 5" channel instead of 6" channel on their standard angle frame.

I don't think he toured the factory but only because he wasn't really interested at the time. Give them a call and see what they say.

If you make the drive over there is another one in the same area (Bri-Mar in Chambersburg). They are more known for their dump trailers but their "EHLE" equipment trailers are supposed to be pretty reliable for lighter loads too:

Mine has treated pine 2x8s. Cross members are 24" on-center. Tongue is very solid with heavy bracing. Everything seems plenty ridged for my needs. More weight than you need is just a waste.

I got to tow my friend's BX about 10 miles today with the new trailer behind my Ram 1500 w/ 5.7. The trailer towed very nicely. Truck did fine too, never really broke a sweat.
