Kickin tires on a new or used Grand L 3560. Questions for you Grand L owners.

I understand to change any of the operating modes, you have to cycle through button pushes on the digital dash display.
Seems like that would annoy me.

So tell me, how is it when operating the tractor and you want to make any changes on the fly.
Are most, or some, or any, of the modes you select via the button push dance, typically chosen prior to each task and left alone?
Or, do you find yourself making several, or a few changes, each time you fire up the machine and as you do your work?

Thanks

I believe you are refering to the Intellapanel display. If the panel on the L3560 is like my Grand L3240, there are only 5 modes to select from. They are hour meter, trip meter, speed in mph, speed in km/h, and PTO speed.

It’s no trouble at all to cycle thru all of them them. It takes only a few swconds. Other than PTO speed, I seldom use use them. The default display after each start is the total hour meter.

no sir, I'm talking about the modes of operation.
stall guard, auto throttle, HST roll out control, and whatever else there is,, maybe, git me another beer mode :D

I haven't had the need to cycle through mine while operating. I have mine set to show the speed and the PTO RPM. The other screens I may look at when I'm done for the day or before I start (such as hour usage or fuel usage), but I haven't found a need to switch through stuff while I'm operating.

I have stall guard set and I don't need to adjust it. I had the auto H-DS set at first, I quit using it after a few hours of usage because I feel that I can control it better.

Played with mine when i first got it. Found the settings I liked and have not changed them. I leave the panel showing % before regen. I did have to turn down the idle up setting last week, the button got stuck in so it was up on high all the time have not had a chance to take handle apart to see why the button stuck.

Same here.

I purchased my L3560 in January 2013.

Set parameters you want for HST/PLUS, then forget it.

Then what is the point of having the options to make changes?

I don’t have any experience with any of it, reason for my questioning.
The one feature that I know I’d use and change for different tasks is the roll out.

After taking delivery of my L6060, I experimented with the various features before programming all as I preferred. I've found no reason to change anything since.

I do turn Auto Throttle Advance on and off, depending upon work being done but it has a separate on/off button.

I occasionally scroll through the display modes (without making changes) to view engine or PTO RPM, DPF percentage, engine hours, etc.

I too wondered if I would need to make mode changes while working but have found no need to do so since set up.

Pretty much the same approach others have mentioned - set and forget. I believe the 60 series differs from my 40, but there are a lot of similarities. I like the display to have PTO RPM's showing. Right now the sweet spot for mowing is around 400 PTO RPM's. That varies with moisture both on and in the grass, plus how much I'm cutting off at the time. When mowing the throttle is set to get the desired PTO speed. When plowing snow, the tractor and engine speed are linked with the hydro pedal.

I usually run with the stall guard and auto HD-S off, and the rollout at midrange. The one thing I do use with some frequency is the HI/LO lever on the left side of the steering wheel. That's probably my favorite feature.

I use the auto throttle from time to time.....and its a matter of pushing a separate button on the dash. I use the hi / low lever on the left side of the steering column quite frequently....several times each hour of operation....and feel it is a very useful setting for me. Same for the cruise control....I use it regurlarly when applying fertilizer or when disking, etc. Sometimes I use the throttle on the joystick when doing loader operations....but not too often.

I set the roll-out and have forgotten about it since. The Stall Guard is on most always. I use the PTO screen when using the PTO implements. It's all good.....and not hard to learn.

Same as the others... I fiddled with it when I got it or do an oil change. Other than that I leave it alone. I'd like to change HST sensitivity occasionally, but it's to much of a pain. John Deere has a nice dedicated knob for that.

The controls for the dash is one of the worst design flaws of the Kubotas. 1 button to run everything. It wouldnt have been hard to put in a knob to scroll through the menus. You dont need to mess around in there much, but it could be so much easier for little cost or engineering.

Thanks fellers, just what I wanted to know.

And that is exactly how I see it.
I致e yet to get my hands on one to fiddle with it, but I will.
The other tractor on my radar is the Deere 3039R or 4066R.

Thanks

I agree the Kubota controls suck. But like others said you don’t really change them that much. The auto throttle advance is the only thing I disable a lot when mowing but it has a dedicated button.

I looked at the 4066R a few years ago when I decided on Kubota. The controls were definitely nicer on the JD IMO but the cab looked like it would be hard for me to clean and I liked the swing out windows on the L6060HSTC. Granted if you aren’t purchasing a cab that’s a moot point. There were other things well including the entire sales pitch.

I wish Kubota would redo their intellipanel. In today’s market it doesn’t seem far fetched to put something super advanced like a touch screen in, not that I’d recommend it, but tech seems to be cheap these days. At least add another button or two to cycle up and down and select.

I too shopped the 4066R before buying my L6060.

I really wanted EPTO, not offered on the L6060, and the 4066R engine, though smaller than that used on the 6060, is intercooled and produces a bit more HP.

I could not accept the one piece wheels provided with R-4 tires though, and the JD dealer was both arrogant and generally unhelpful, as well as 25 miles further away.

The one feature that I know I壇 use and change for different tasks is the roll out.

Because everyone has their own preferences and application of use. Same for my M62, after I tweaked it for my applications I dont mess with it much anymore.

My 40 series GL has the knob for the HST response and I rarely adjust it. However I have had it move (maybe my pants rubbed against it) and was caught off guard. I almost think I would prefer it to be push button. But if it ever dies 20 years down the road a pot is much easier to replace. Like the others I found the settings I like best and leave them there. I do have different settings for snow blowing in the winter (like stall guard off) than in the summer but I can't remember actually adjusting them while using it.

Personally I don't think you would change it as much as you think. Our sons L3940 has over 2100 hours and HST response control on it is a knob. As far as I know it never gets changed. The loader on that particular tractor is used 365 days a year for feeding ground feed and round bales to a decent size cattle herd on a concrete feed lot. BTW: It's never had a repair, knock on wood.

As far as the Deere vs. Kubota. He recently purchased a new L4060. They looked at everything and the one thing that has stood out on the Kubota Grand L's that Deere can't even touch is the addition of having 2 speeds in each of the 3 ranges and shifts up and down at the flick of a lever. That is one of the most useful features that everyone that runs either one likes the most. As you can see by the signature no one around here is partial to any one color. His JD 5065M has been great and now has about 1400 hours and has only had one repair, a gasket behind the water pump. Deere failed to put one in at the factory, only very thin layer of sealant. A $6 gasket and $250 worth labor and all was well.
