The op states there are other trees in the area. I wonder if having a pulley system to other tree(s) would help?

Sweet idea ! except for this detail included in the original post.

I have been down there. it's deep and manky! . I could wait for winter..... ;-)

But the log arch could be winched or pulled up the hill reducing the drag.

No question, a skidding winch is the fastest way...

For his single tree he could hook up one of the pulleys he already has and have the tree on the road, almost in less time than it would take to hook his tractor up to the winch... which he doesn't have.
