Howdy all.

I removed the injector pump and have since turned the engine over by hand to clean the cylinder walls. Will I have to re-time the engine?

That's NEVER a good thing.. but since its done.. its done, so lets move on..
Depending on if the gear slipped a tooth.. or didn't turn at all when u moved the others..
Its hard to say.. but my gut tells me yes..
I think I would> mark the inj. pump drive gear to another gear..
them reach in & see if u can actually move the drive gear by hand.. {skipping a tooth}
IF U CAN.. time to retime the engine & pump..
IF u can get the #'s off the name plate of the inj. pump, I can tell u which pump cyl. is #1 & how to set it TO #1 on the pump..
Your on your own as far as setting the engine to #1.. sorry.

I removed it as I am repainting the tractor.
Pretty sure I have it figured out, tell me what you think.

-Set tractor to TDC at #1 on compression stroke.
-Confirm TDC via spyhole at flywheel.
-Set injector pump via window.

I can also remove the gear shaft cover (maybe a different name, not sure) which is attached to the oil fill so as to check the mark on injection pump gear to upper idler gear.
It's only 6 bolts to get that cover plate off.

Sound feasible?

That all sounds hunky dory but, u don't know if the gear slipped when u rotated the engine..
Gonna need those #'s on the pump nameplate to keep u straight.. u don't wanna do it twice..

Is it possible for the gear to slip?
I did not remove any of the front covers.

WoW.. u have a strange one there.. I've NEVER seen this before..
The manf. gives 2 different timing ports for #1 cylinder depending on the prefix letter infront of the pump #.!!??
IF its a "U" 3242698 #1 cyl is outlet "U" ..1:00 looking at the back of the pump..
IF it has a "C" 3242698 #1 is outlet "W".. 11:00 looking at the back of the pump..
SO what u have to do is put pressurized air, about 90psi to one of those outlets & turn the drive shaft IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION OF ROTATION slowly until it stops..
Theres an arrow on the nameplate.. THATS the correct rotation of the drive hub..
When it stops, THATS the start of injection #1 cylinder..
THEN all u have to do is see if it mates to the gear that u ALREADY TIMED TO TDC #1 cyl..
It wont match if the gear slipped..

The reason there are 2 different timing ports is because this tractor is either direct injection or indirect injection.
If it痴 direct injection the injectors are mounted on an angle.

The pump is marked with both a B and a C.
The letter you line up to depends on direct or indirect injection.

I can稚 imagine a gear slipping. I didn稚 remove the front cover.
If for some reason a gear slipped, I will then need to remove the front covers and line up all the timing marks.

Yeah I understand.. Like I said, that was the absolute 1st time I've seen that on a CAV/Delphi pump & I've been doing this for a VERY long time..
Its also intersesting that U KNEW the drive plate letter.. & it wasn't given in the test/calibration spec sheet..
There was a service bulletin along time ago stating that MF no longer requires CAV/Delphi to add the drive plate letter in their spec sheet..
BUT "I" always set it anyway.. just incase the mechanic had lined it up when he pulled it off {timed it}..
It would be an unwanted/uncalled for mess if the pump was timed w/ the drive plate letter & it wasn't set after a rebuild..
& the customer "TRIED" to time it using the out of place C-Clip..
