Know what makes you feel old ??

I am on a couple of other websites where they have polled for member's ages. If my memory is right, most of the members are over the age of 60. A large number are in the 40-60 range, and the remainder under 40.

I've noticed that with other forums I'm on too. I don't know if it's just that the stuff I'm interested in are mostly "old guy" topics, or if younger people don't use forums as much as they do other media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). I don't imagine sites like this are particularly cellphone-friendly either.

I was unloading a 9x24 ag tire from my truck at a tire shop--no big deal--and a guy in his 40's or a little older said "let me help you with that" and did before I could object.

My plumber is high 30s. Very healthy. I was trying to slide a combination oven into a cabinet. I couldn't handle the weight in such an awkward position. He said same thing, let me help you with that. He had 75% of the weight and I mostly just guided him. Those moments make me reminisce about being that age.

Tell me about it. I spent one Summer (Summer of 1970 to be exact) loading 110# bags (50 kilos) of export chemicals on pallets in freight cars, in Southern California, in 115 degree temperature. Now I'm happy when my Grandson carries my 40# bags of birdseed, potting soil and fertilizer into the garage for me.

I really felt my age when I went into hospital for a prostate related operation. The operation involves shoving a laser up your dick to burn a wider tract so the bladder empties completely and reduces urinary tract infections.The nurse who took me to theatre and was the anesthetists assistant had been a young schoolgirl who I would talk to when she came out to the mailbox to pick up the mail. I had been the rural mailman around her area for about 15 years. Ididn'y recognise her but she remembered me.

I had that same surgery, the first and only time I'd ever been under anesthesia. It was the best thing that I've done for myself for a long time. My only regret was that it took 7 years and three specialists before finally finding someone who actually would do something.

It wasn't much fun at the time, but now I can P like a fireman again. :laughing:
It's also nice not to worry about doing things in public without getting very far from a bathroom; I'm even thinking about getting on an airplane sometime.

I had that op and then about 3 months later, had to go through it again. (Maybe scar tissue) however I think I am heading down that road again.

I believe there may be a stent type op available now?

I catch myself doing that too. I'll be visiting with someone and thinking how old they look. Then it dawns on me that they are 10 years younger than I. Wonder what they are thinking about me???

There's only two days in my week, Saturday and Sunday. Six Saturdays. One Sunday. I do pretty good at knowing what montg it is. Rarely know the day. Never know the date. Perfect life.

You're not alone. I drove about 20 miles to a car show, to find out I was a week early. That's what I get for not checking, when my friend asked me "Are you going to the car show in XXXXXX this weekend?"

I have seen ads for that on local TV. The possible side effects, possible inability to control the flow especially, scare me off.

Like Ronnie Reagan said: "Trust, but verify".

Similar story: I like to go to concerts. Rock, bluegrass, folk music, anything. Early in my marriage, my wife said asked "Do you want to go to a rock show today?" at a nearby ski mountain. "Sure." We get there and only then do I realize she's talking about a gem and mineral (rock) collectors swap meet. :mur:
26 years later and I'm not sure if out communication skills have gotten better or worse. :confused2:
