Drinking first cup of coffee. 40ー with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 51ー with rain showers in afternoon. .38" of rain yesterday. Did a few cleanup items in house yesterday. Going to get aerator and JD rotary cutter out so I can put them up for sale.

RNG, scary stuff on the hill side. Be careful.

Drew my biggest complaint is how to use noise canceling headphones with a wide brim hat. My wide brim hat loses out to a baseball cap. When using the headphones.

David, that tool for pulling underground pipe looks very interesting. I could make all the parts for the project. Except the cable puller and cable. Could you buy the unit and then sell when project is done.

LS, nice headboard.

PJ, hope your visitors find a nice place to move.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

I also like the pipe pull using the existing pipe for the broken high pressure line. Using the backhoe to pull cable should work. That pipe should be in a bed of sand, so maybe a reasonable pull. I罵l unearth both ends and give a test tug.
While I知 not about to spend $700 for this tool, it does provide ideas.

David, interesting video, the "pull" looks to be more of a rope guided mole style "push" on the old pipe than a pull, so hopefully unless the ground around the old pipe collapses, there is not much force being placed on the replacement pipe/conduit.

Hope you make a similar video so we can all share the fun, with Sophie in high viz jacket, chewing gum and cranking up the rock music while you see if it will move. Louder the better - helps cover up the curses when something breaks ? :D

Good morning all. It looks like we are in for a day of sunshine before the rain returns.

The boat I would like to build is a flat bottomed work punt, to use on our ponds. I saw one made of aluminium that looked perfect from the point of stability, but found it cost 」3,500, so wondered if I could make something a lot cheaper out of ply wood. Looking around I found plans from an Australian boat designer for $30. They aren't exactly what I wanted, but were well worth it to discover how to keep the weight down and stop it flexing too much. I'm now (foolishly ?) adapting them to shorten the length to 11' 6" and lowering the sides to reduce the "freeboard" - our largest pond is only 3.5 acres, so waves shouldn't be much of a problem (I hope - "sink" is one of those nautical terms I don't want to get too familiar with :))

RNG, good job you kept the runaway on a straight line so it didn't role. I have R1's with plenty of tread, but am still wary of working slopes. They really help with traction when the ground is soft, but in dry conditions when the ground is hard, I try to avoid steeper sections with early morning dew on the grass - that rear pucker sensation takes a lot of forgetting

Is this what your modified design is going to look like? :D

Eric I can see why you want to build at boats that price. My mom would sell you Dad's flat bottom for almost the price of you plans, but the shipping would bring it back up. If your wood boat fails (notice I did not use the word "sink") you could always get one of these. I've see these around ponds lately.

However, it's not at stately as a long wood boat around the Shropshire castle.

Eric, I wonder if the extra "i" used in English aluminium boats make them so much more expensive than the plain aluminum boats here? :)
