Power Point Plug

Has anyone installed a power point plug (12 volt) on their tractor? I want to add one for my baler monitor. Thinking of the deck behind the seat, but need to find a weather proof unit. Otherwise the dash somewhere. I think I have a good place to get power (same tap as the ROPS light bar)

Anyway just checking to see if someone has done this before and how did you do it.

Here is an easy way to add power. Tap and existing fuse in your panel and add the wires. Most metal on the tractor is a ground.

There is an extra wire right behind the seat. It comes out just to the right of the top link of the 3 point hitch. You should be able to hook straight up with a couple of connectors,

I ran a two-core wire directly from the battery (clamp-ons) to the back of the seat frame. I mounted a weather-proof 'cigarette lighter' type receptacle/power-point there for use with the amber-beacon "whoop-whoop" mounted on my ROPS.

I suppose that I could splice a fuse in the line, but the beacon draws very little and is only used when I'm infrequently on a public road.

I bought a power point from my tractor dealer that is for a model that comes with them from factory. Used a hole saw (sorry, forget what size but it was a standard size in a set and it was perfect for the power point to snap into.)

Then I just ran some two wire and went right off the back of the starter where the battery cable bolts on and I put a fuse block in there close to where the wire starts.

That's how my dealer had the old work lights powered....off the starter, so I just did the same. I've never had an issue with it.

Do yourself a favor and always put a fuse on the power origination point. That wire going to back is gonna short or get shorted one day and you will bel ucky if it just a wire melt down. Remember, if you don't fuse it, the the Guage of teh wire is the fuse. 10Ga, maybe 15-20Amps before smoking...

Good way to install otherwise. I've done similar (I use ring terminals, a fuse holder, and spiral wrap in the wire) and use the power point as a plug in for my Solar Trickle Charge.

Was out looking today and found 2 spots. One on the dash to the Right of the steering column, and one on the tray behind the seat on the right. Now to find a good weatherproof plug. Many say weather proof, but sure dont took it.
