Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #90,141
The day is starting out at 1° with a light snow shower. Yesterday was mostly sunny and in the low 30's with some wind in the afternoon. Today is going to be partly cloudy with a light wind and in the mid 20's.

I got the driveway cleared yesterday. That makes it three days in a roll that I have had to clean the driveway. We have gotten about 18 inches of snow over the last three days, that's not a lot but enough to keep me busy.

I don't have any plans for today.

Hope everyone gets a good start to the week.
CWB.

Maybe Don can chime in ona more heart healthy version? Regardless, they do sound good! Thanks for sharing!

Yep just leave out the fat. I went round and round with the cruise, - no extra calories and artery damaging fat is needed for flavor. 100% of the food in the buffet line had extra oil added- confirmed by the chefs. I guess it helps keep the passengers full longer and they don't eat as much, but still get twice as many calories and gain 10 pounds in a week and are boastfully happy and think they got their money's worth.

You got me curious now Bird, did anyone of your doctors discuss diet after your bypass? - Not that you have to follow anything they say but just to give you the information to let you make an informed decision. The statistics are that unless a diet is changed substantially another procedure is likely in 5-7 years. That's all off soapbox.

Oh happy days, the potatoes are in. And not from where i had ordered them, they gave more excuses again and thankfully I had found
exactly what I wanted/needed at another place in town, who I already dealt with, where I get my hay, and never knew they had potatoes.
Well now I do and while 8 bucks more expensive per bag, I would have paid more than that to avoid the dog ate my potatoes stories I had been getting elsewhere.

Good timing actually, too wet today, too cold next two days, good to sit in very warm garden shed and slice away.
Already have the table set up. 100 pounds each of Red Lasoda, Red Pontiac, Kennebec and Yukon Gold. My goal is to grow
two tons of potatoes this year for the food pantry.

wngsprd; Randy...heard a nice rendition of the National Anthem yesterday...about 25 little girls sang it (well) to open the Orioles pre-season game against Detroit yesterday.QUOTE said:
I heard that same group of young ladies! They sounded better to me than many of the so called “artists”.

-8F this morning, no water.. Bundled up, went out and checked outbuilding with pressure tank.. heater running, but only 27F so grabbed a milkhouse heater from shop and plugged that in aimed at pressure switch pipe.. came back in to start work, water came back in less than 15 minutes.. yay.. will need to go out later and unplug the extra heater.. I'm been meaning to fix the insulation so that heater on thermostat can keep up, but it only has issues when it gets -5F or colder, sometimes when the wind is blowing a certain direction..

Daughter wanted to change oil in her Equinox yesterday, plenty cold for that, but got er done (I moved tractor out, helped her get her car on ramps, then watched while she changed her oil)..

Good morning all,

A crisp 1 degree this morning and clear skies, well atleast starry skies it's still dark.

My son had a home built and it's finally done. I have been storing all his crap for years now. Today it's all going to his new home. My 18' enclosed snowmobile trailer is full and I'll be glad to get rid of it.:drink:

Prayers for those in need.

Why are you getting rid of the snowmobile trailer?

jbrumberg,
the only commercially available maple syrup here is #1 Amber. ( Blasted Goobermint)
I get a couple of gallons of it and then boil it down and end up with about a gallon of dark. I just gotta be careful I don't make toffee out of it.

Don, I don't recall diet being discussed at all. I know my diet would be considered terrible by your standards. And I've no doubt at all that you're right. BUT . . . Oddly enough, my triple bypass was 3 years ago today. And I'm 79 years old now, and really should try harder to lose weight; about 60-70 pounds in fact to get back to the weight I was when I retired. But I also know that many, if not most, doctors believe that heredity plays a big part in your life expectancy. NO male member of my family has EVER lived to be 81. So by your estimate of 5 to 7 years before needing more surgery, well, I don't expect to live that long anyway. My Dad and his Dad both had Alzheimers for 5 years or so before dying at the age of 80. I don't think I'm getting Alzheimers yet, but I most definitely do know that my memory is slipping. Who knows what the future holds?

61°F and ,2 inches rain. Basically enough to keep everything wet yesterday, not a good outside day but great for inside. Able to straighten up work area inside tractorshed and get tools reorganized in the shop. Forecast looks wet for the week, could be a challenge getting this last roof done.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Drew- Good luck with the potatoes.

".... but it only has issues when it gets -5F or colder, sometimes when the wind is blowing a certain direction."- Hawkeye. I am happy to read that you got your water running. I only had one freeze up this year. I burned out Wifey's hair dryer; switched. over to my heat gun; and was finally successful. I use brooding lamps aimed at the "problem" area. If it's supposed to go <-10ºF I fire up some some hobby lights. Adding more cellar insulation is "On The List."

Bill- #1 Amber maple syrup by governmental decree is crazy stupid. What a PITA to get what you want. My wife and I have boiled our own; it's really finicky finishing.

I hope Ted's orthopedic examination goes well and everyone else has a decent Monday PM.
