Over packaging = high $$ shipping??

Oh, and the answer is a Medium Flat Rate box for $14.35.

Wow, I assumed that Flat Rate did not apply for AK and HI. That's amazing!

But unless they've changed it for the better, Amazon Prime does not include "free" 2-Day shipping to AK (or probably HI either). I learned that from personal experience when my daughter was up there.

5 Oz First Class Package Service, Zone 5 rate is $4.53

Notice 123 | Postal Explorer

You paid $0.93 for the tip plus shipping.

Or close to it. Seller got a small discount for the Commercial Base postage rate.

Ok but still cheaper then the over boxed box at $7.65 flat rate..........I see no need for a box on small items.

So what is the best way to ship this 20 Kg. suitcase weight from South Carolina to Alaska?

Like you said, "The right size package....."

Being of one to old and stubborn to except the metric system, I had to first look up 20kg and translate it to old school 44.0925 lbs. and suffice to say an envelope wont cut it. I say box it and box good, but is that suitcase worth more then the shipping cost, my guess is over $100.00 in shipping to Alaska, a lot of places wont even ship to Hawaii or Alaska, so it must be expensive, so what is a suitcase in JD terms?

I don't know the dimensions, but according to the prior poster, it will fit in a Medium Flat Rate Box. The USPS mantra is "if it fits, it ships". That means that there is no weight limit - if it fits in the box, you pay the flat rate price. In this case, $14.xx IIRC. VERY hard to beat that, IMO. Feel free to post anything better...

Hey, if there's a TBN'er that happens to be driving from NC (or was it SC?) to AK this year, and is willing to pick it up and drop it off for $10 or less...
