A gas engine from a diesel builder? Brings back memories of gas blocks converted to diesels back in the 80s. Just reversed. I am sure it will be well thought out though.

As I understand it, the EcoBoost is a gas engine that is built like a diesel to handle high boost pressures, perhaps they are following in Ford's footsteps...

I hope not! I know of two older ecoboost engines, one just got out of warr. and both turbo's were shot, Ford would NOT help with replacement. That cost him $3,000.00...
The other was burning oil like crazy with only 180,000 on it...

I agree. I would hope the tech and engineers are more advanced now than back then.

Eco boost engines are fairly new. Not 1980s stuff.

It is a stoked 6.2L with a Cast iron block . GM was probably expecting Tier V and Tier IV emissions which would make the diesel impractical and expensive in “small “ application light and medium duty applications .
That engine would make approx 110-140HP at 1800rpm. This engine and scaled down versions would fit into many current small diesel Agricultural, Marine, standby applications and industrial duty .
