Getting ready for bed here. Everything is slushy outside, temps got up to 50 or so. Most of the snow is gone, and it is raining.

My softener is about 30 years old, it is a 2 tank Kenetico. The resin is pretty easy to get out, it’s plastic beads, so not hazardous waste. I took the head apart, it is all mechanical, a very clever bunch of gears. It is essentially a water meter. I just poured the resin into 2 5 gallon buckets. I am replacing the o rings on the adapters, but the seals inside look fine. I should have the resin tomorrow.

32 right now...high in the mid to uppers 40's today. Looks like two "warm" days, then back to more seasonal temperatures.

I'd written yesterday I was going to try to clear more snow off the drive since we're looking at a thaw/refreeze. I did get another inch or so...what's on the drive and lawn is frozen...


The great majority of the snow is from the 2' storm we got a couple weeks ago...

The cab looks so much cosier than what you had before Roy.

We had rain last night to wash away most of the ice. Not that ice was really a problem this weekend, as we had a volunteer ice breaker staying with us. He enjoyed skidding the broken pieces across the surface of the pond so much, he actually stopped mid way through a computer game on Sunday when he heard I was about to go out and make some more drinking holes.




RNG, good luck with the figures. I know what you mean about waving a magic stick around and listening for beeps, without being able to see the laser. Nocturnal surveying when it is misty is so much more intuitive.

CWB, I am also struggling to do neat vertical up welds, but not giving up yet. A bit more practice and we will soon be really proficient - at grinding.

Whipper might be getting too much dope. She did something she has never done - just pooped right in the middle of the road with no shame. She always waited for a vacant field before today.

Do any of y誕ll taking the oil find yourselves doing strange things that of course aren稚 age related.

Cut some more firewood yesterday, so need to split and stack today before it gets too warm.

22 and going to a high of 32°F. Wind N 7 mph. There was some freezing drizzle overnight and they call for freezing rain or maybe snow today.

The other day when we 'lost' the hydro, the genny wouldn't start. It might have had something to do with the -30°F temps. Those little batteries can't take the cold like a car battery can. It still wouldn't start yesterday and hooked up the booster of she fired right up.
Today when I go out to deal with the snow and crap we got on Friday/Saturday, I will fire up the genny and let it run for the duration of my snow clearing (3 hours more of less). That should charge up the battery, I hope.
I don't want junior boosting the battery the way I did. + to starter post and - to battery, mainly because the - and + are so close together on the solenoid. I do not need to be replacing yet another gen set because of his carelessness.

Local station making noise about nasty winter mix coming late Thursday into Friday....sure hope not.

Yesterday was good day to enjoy seat time,all the snow banks needed attention got it and than some.
Least the Super Bowl wasn't one side.
E muffin feed little critter slow roll to work.

It is 33 now and headed to near 60 again like yesterday. Felt wonderful outside yesterday. Wife an$ i we羆*e both outsid doing some stuff, I had the garage doors open. Lots of melting going on.

Time for another cup of coffee. Then off to LA for week. Still not sure if the customer expects me there for midnight shift tonight or a half a**ed afternoon shift starting tomorrow. They are being difficult and have already bought competitor machines. Not sure why sales thinks this trip is so important. But hey, it all pays the same.
