Thanks to all for the birthday wishes. Both daughters plan to come and take up out to lunch today.

42 degrees this morning (dipped to 37 briefly, then started back up) and going for a high of a windy 56.

-30°F and warming up to -9°F. Wind NE 11 mph. Snow is in the forecast.

The hydro was out at 4:30 this morning. It came back on an hour ago. The oil in the genny was so cold that it wouldn't turn over on the electric start and would hardly turn over with the pull start. So no genny, just camp around the wood stove. It is a good thing I have that wood stove or I would be one cold Canuck.

Happy Birthday Bird!

I aint doing nothing today.

Have a good day all

50°F this morning and forecast to get to 72°F this afternoon. This will be the last warm day until Thursday here so ...... I'd better get busy. I still need to pressure wash the tractor I got muddy and a few other items.

Found a dead tree, from my eastern neighbors place, across my fence yesterday on one of the lowest place on our place. Luckily it was very long dead, very rotted and not very heavy. I couldn't even get the Polaris Ranger close to that area because of the soft ground so ...... walked in with my HF 40V chain saw. The dead tree was so rotted it almost broke with the weight of the saw. Three cuts and all good. Just had to put some new staples in to re-secure the barb wire and hog fence.

Wng, hope you heal fast. I had a half dozen staples, in the back of my head, from this one many years ago.

Happy Birthday Mr. Bird!!

Hope everyone has a great week.

Prayers to all.

Neighbor came by, this afternoon ...... with a peace offering.

All is at peace ........ in Colorado County.

Unfortunately ...... we all need to be careful what we post here now. Another member, who posts on GM, felt a need to post the above over on "Friendly Politics" as a personal insult. I'm guessing, it was to gain the favor of some of the loons that inhabit FP ..... 24/7.

Good morning to all! Low of 29F, going up to 42 early, dropping quickly to 32F with the influx of a cold front. The wind is expected to kick up to 20-25 w/ gusts to 35. Snow is expected with the front. 3-6" is a possibility.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIRD!

Need to take wifey into town today, need to pick up a few large storage containers. Decided to clean up / clear out the 9' high x 12' long book cases in the living room. Need the containers to store some of the collection of books. We came accross one that was printed in 1895, another from 1905. Found 3 of my dad's engineering books from 1935. To us, pretty cool books being that old.

So, I know what i'll be doing this afternoon. Maybe pick up something interesting for dinner when we're in town.

Puppy has gained 2 1/2 lbs, and 1 1/2" in height. He has a loose front tooth....yea! Can't wait for all of those razors to fall out.... He's getting a little better with the biting, (a lot softer thanks to PJ's wifey's suggestion to 'whine / cry' when he bites). He still gets a little carried away every now and then, but realizes he's biting too hard and tones it down.

Billy, hope your head doesn't hurt too bad today and it heals quickly.

Hoping everyone dealing with injuries and illness gets better soon, prayers out this morning for all.

Cleaned off the old speedaire compressor some. There were no air filters on it. Not sure how to proceed. I would like to put new rings and reeds in it. Have to weigh costs. Can get a new pump for about $199

I replaced all the valves in the compressor head of my big 40 year old Speedair compressor a few years ago. Found them online, called 'em up, and verified the parts were available and would fit. They arrived a week later, and in an hour the compressor was running good as new. The only problems I had were bumping my head in the narrow confines of the little shed in which the compressor sits, and seeing what I was doing in the confined space. That's gotta be simpler than replacing the whole compressor, but maybe it's not. And is your old, probably made in USA compressor, better than what is likely an import new head of questionable quality? I dunno. I do know that if the rod or crank bearings give up the ghost, replacements are a phone call away, but getting them installed will certainly involve removing and replacing the compressor head, which is certainly more work than just replacing the old head with a new one. I guess I'll cross that bridge if/when I come to it...

I also found a filter that would fit the compressor, I think from McMaster-Carr. But if I could have just gotten replacements from Speedair, I would go that route.

RNG I致e never heard that about pine forests and their healing powers. I learn something new everyday

I think you meant RIT, not RNG, Buppies?;) But I understand all us rednecks are pretty much the same...

Didn't know that about a pine forest either, but how did you keep from getting sick yourself after being cooped up in a car with sick kids for a day?:confused2:

Oh, and welcome back to the Good Morning thread, RIT!:welcome:

daugen; Decided to hold off on getting a boot on my foot to see if time will help with plantar fasciitis. [/QUOTE said:
Drew, 20 years ago, I had plantar fascitis and was having issues walking (I was traveling full time, on my feet most of the day when I was not on an airplane).. Saw a "Good Feet Store" advertisement, wife and I both got their inserts.. took a few weeks to get accustomed to them and have not had a problem since.. I pretty much wear the inserts daily... worth checking into.

Good Morning!!!! 53 @ 6:00AM. Cloudy. High 61F. Winds light and variable.

Hope them what's ailin' gits better real soon!

Glad you're "adjustment" to your new home is workin' out for ya, Don.

Happy Birthday, Bird. Here's wishing for many more!

Spent yesterday in a renewal class for the CCW and learned a few things, mostly about what the law says vs. what actually happens at the scene and in court later. Ex-cops make very good teachers. Before we adjourned to the range to qualify, he encouraged us to keep our skills sharp by practicing at least twice a month, but assured us that even if we hadn't shot since we last qualified two years ago, he'd coach us through so we passed. I confessed to him that I was one of those who lacked practice, but fortunately the rust wore off pretty quickly and I did OK. Even surprised myself that the bum eye didn't get in the way too much, and (not to brag) that I could hit pretty good at 25 yards with the snubbie. I think the instructor was surprised, too, and he started to complain that it was hard to mark the target when a lot of the holes overlapped.

Noticed that the back bumper on the van had slipped down from the weight of the motorcycle, and now the carrier is lower at the back than the front. That's because the arms that mount the bumper don't fit the rectangular tube in the van's frame very well, so it needs a new round of cut and weld to fix. Rain starts Wednesday, so not likely to happen this week, and the maiden voyage camping trip down to the Sacramento River Delta is this weekend. Even with the little leak, the van'll still be dryer than sleeping in a tent, so that's what I'll drive down there.

Speaking of leaks, I'll be heading out to the auto glass shop this morning to let them have a go at finding that leak. The motorcycle on the back bumper is my way home so I don't have to wait there all day while they look for it. Gonna be a brisk ride without the electric jacket; the little dirt bike's alternator doesn't put out enough juice to keep me warm. But I'll take the back roads through Paradise and keep the speeds down, so that'll help.

Electrician comes again this afternoon to put final touches on the plan for the generator. Should be interesting.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

It looks like 24° for the low this morning. Yesterday was partly cloudy with a high in mid 30's and some wind. Today is going to be about the same. They don't show any storms until the weekend.

Need to order new tires for the ranger . One of them has a hole in the sidewall, they have about 3 thousand miles on them. I looked in to change them last September but thought they would last the winter. They are all badly weather cracked.

Not much else planned for the day.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week.
CWB.
