Found some vintage 10 tine pitch forks on eBay. Looks like they were used for potatos
or
manure

Could have been a manure fork, nothing like we used for potatoes though, worked great on peanuts.

39 this morning and 37 now. Had an inch of snow Friday night but it was gone by lunch yesterday. Just rain since.

It’s been a while. I got behind while on vacation before Christmas, just never could get caught up. Hit a wrong button and skipped 200 post.Doubt I get to go back and reread.
Instead of buying the boys a bunch of toys for Christmas that they will soon loose interest in. We took them down to Disney and Sea World. Enjoyed Disney a lot more than the other. We went to Mickey’s Christmas Party. The highlight of the trip was seeing our oldest with autism reaction when he met Mickey. The staff was very kind. Allowing us an extended stay with Mickey. He probably spent 10 minutes hugging and feeling of his face. But he enjoyed other parts of the trip also. We’ll be taking him back again sometime in the future.

I’ve got a new flock of birds. They’re a week old. Most things are running well down there. Usual break downs. Condensation is a big problem this time of the year. Everything drips. 30’s outside 80’s inside.

Happy belated birthday and anniversary to all those that I missed.

Rng. On your generator search. Have you thought about buying a head and engine separate. I have a marathon head and a Cummins engine. Slow turning engine and head was setup for the engine. You don’t need what I have but on a light load my fuel consumption is about 2 gallons an hour. Will probably be what goes on my house also when we build. My switch gear is a 400amp auto transfer. Smart gear. If it doesn’t like the power coming in it’ll start the generator and run for 15 minutes after everything settles down on the grid. We do have stable power here though. But you also want a switch gear that read off both legs. Mine does and I was lucky a few years back when I melted one leg off. Most of my stuff is 240 so should have been very consistent loads across both legs. Some switch gears only look for power on one leg and if the other one fails then they won’t activate.

Buppies. Is your tractor open station. If so, what air ride seat did you get? Pictures please. My suspension is broke on mine and I need to do something. Been having a lot of back problems lately after I spend very much time on it.

Don. I’d guess for the peanut crop. Unless you left out some information.

RNG, I use my grapple for my sawbuck. I pick up entire logs, to a comfortable cutting height and cut rounds from both ends. Then I drop log and re-pick it up on one end between grapple and lid and cut a couple more rounds. Usually have one more cut, of the final piece, after I drop it on top of the already cut rounds.

I've done the same in the past with the 4in1 bucket on the Kubota. I like the sawbuck for two reasons: I'm not jumping on and off the tractor all the time; and the way it's built, the arms of the sawbuck act as measurement guides so I get nice consistent 18" cuts. I still use the 4in1 sometimes, but it just works out better for me to have both.

Yesterday I poked around on google to see what might be new in sawbuck design, then found this pic of my old one. I like the way the lower cross braces on mine slope down, away from the chainsaw path. All the ones I saw on line had the braces running laterally just beneath the X, and it seems like they'd get chewed up pretty quickly. Never had that problem on my 'buck.

Found this at grandpa’s. What was it used for. He grew cotton, corn, peanuts.View attachment 586944

Don, i remember something similar growing up we called and used as a potato fork. Handy for bringing them up and the dry dirt falling away. Not sure it had same number of tines.

I've seen that style called a potato fork, but I've also seen and used a 4 tined fork with the tines bent at a 90 a couple of inches from the top.
They where called a potato fork but we used them unloading false front silage wagons into table blowers.
What we used for manure forks had 5 or 6 tines and a long handle.
