How long since anyone has used a handsaw like this?

Not as long as you might think. Sometimes it's easier and less of a mess to grab the handsaw, vs digging out the skilsaw and often the generator just to cut a few boards. (Mine is not as old as yours though, it was purchased sometime toward the end of WWII)

I had a small triangular file in my tool set for well over 20 years, never knowing what I was going to do with it. Had no idea what it was for. Tool **** Friday made me look it up to see what it was used for. Its used for sharpening cross cut hand saws! So I spent the better part of last weekend using it to restore several old hand saws that were no longer usable. And now they cut like they were new!

I got one of those... in a pile of files from my dad's toolbox. Thanks for the info... I didn't know it had a special purpose.

The double cut version of that is called a three-square file. It is used for internal filing and cleaning up square corners.

Hear is one for you guys, the guy we bought the house from left it in the water shed. I was thinking it was some how used to sharpen a chainsaw. I was looking through a 1953 Stanley tools catalog and fond it In there. It's not a Stanley but it is all most like the one in the catalog.

He also left pliers

They’re similar to a Knipex version of an adjustable wrench. What are they used for with the small jaw opening?
