What tool did Santa bring you?

kenmac - I do as you. Have special project - need a tool - go buy it. However, in recent years that has been a bit of a problem. Return home with the new tool only to find you already had one. It's never anything big, but its the time and drive distance that irritates. I don't think I'm getting old. Mother Nature may think otherwise.

WHATEVER - it's always justified by saying - "Well, I can always use a spare". It might also help if I had better organization of my tools.

My wonderful wife gave me a Milwaukee cordless grease gun. I already have some M12 and M18 tools, so this M12 will fit right into the herd. Like others have stated, greasing using this is so much easier that I will likely do better at keeping up with my greasing tasks.

My Mother-in-law got me a nice Dewalt 4-1/2" / 5" High Performance Grinder (D28115 13amp). I used one at a friends who helped me re-work a torqued FEL I bought for my L3400. It's a more traditional style with a trigger versus the newer paddle style that's common in the 4.5" range of grinders. I found it to be much more comfortable than the paddle style over long term use.

Got some cool accessories for the grease gun from my brother and sister-in-law - caps, Lock-N-Lube, zerk cleaning tool.

Good stuff, well blessed.

I'm guilty of doing the same .

Bought a set of zero degree offset wrenches today.

I just nearly bought a Dewalt cordless grease gun. But then since I had a battery and charger I’d need the XR impact and then I’d need the big impact and then I’d need the big cordless grinder. It would be a $1000 purchase pretty quick.

Christmas is just another day. If you need something, just go out & buy it. No need to be disappointed year after year with people unsatisfied with your gifts. Then you wake up one day to realize it's Christmas & not some crappy gift giving contest.

OMG! Jaded and cynical. My sentiments exactly!

Organization is key. My wifes grandfather was extremely unorganized with his tools. When he passed and I went painstakingly through his stuff and organized it, I found duplicates of everything, sometimes many times over. I think he had a dozen hammers as an example, all about the same weight head. I have not been able to get fully organized in the house I am in since moving here in 2016, but getting closer all the time.

You and I are both OLD (I think I am older?)
Until 2 months ago I had 3 houses.
I have doubles, or triples, or more, of many tools,(4 sledge hammers - 16+ shovels).
One house is now gone, but I still have all the ...stuff!
Garage sales are a big PITA, so I guess I'll just keep it, and let my kids sort it all out after I depart.

^^^ This... I am spread out over several locations... it is my goal to one day be centralized... a place of everything and everything in place.

I get frustrated trying to make repairs out at the ranch... often I will bring me service truck if there is something to do.

My brother has workers and it is just not the same... tools walk or are misplaced or left broken with no one saying a word... he has 3 manual post hole diggers and each has a broken handle... and not a work... shovels too.

I said he needs to keep his tools separate and under lock and key... and some basic stuff for the guys...

Not a 3/8 ratchet to be found yesterday... and there should be at least 4!

I spent a fair amount of time at a Tool and Die shop... 35 employees, tool crib, etc... never had the problems looking for tools... if someone had what you needed from the crib the tool check was left in it's place... worked 99% of the time except when the boss's son was working on something!
