New LS Dealer opened up shop only 10 minutes from my house.

Thought I would stop by and check out the offerings.

I liked the CAB on the XG3025 so I sat down inside after a minute of squeezing in.
Trying to leave took more time and head banging on the cab roof in order to exit.

Assuming the cab on a XJ2025 would be smaller, I am second guessing the need for a cab when I buy.

Dealer also felt no chains would be needed to push snow on my asphalt driveway on a grade if I used R3 tires with Rim Guard.

Apparently the R3 tires are made of softer rubber and self clean.

Is there a windshield or similar to help with winter plowing? Also wondering how hard to add a heater if I do not add a Cab.

TIA

A couple of things. A heater won't do any good at all without a cab. A heated snowmobile suit would be a lot better. It plugs in to the electrical system and will keep you much more comfortable. You will also need a helmet. As for the Tires, most people report that R3 tires are good in snow. It is not because they are self cleaning though. It is because the cleats fill up with snow. Snow on snow gives the traction. The same reason people put grooves in their R4 tires to increase the amount of snow that is held in the tire as the snow fills the grooves it helps the traction. Whether you can get away without chains on grades is another matter. Some of it depends on how wet the snow is. No tractor tire is worth a crap on ice. For ice you will need chains.

I am in the same boat when it comes to entering into and exiting a cabbed compact tractor, and even once I manage to shoe horn myself into one, and especially if it's a hydro, the pedal placement, and stroke of the pedals is almost unbearable for me...

I have shopped them all, and there is a couple of exceptions for me. I found that the TYM cab is actually very comfortable for me to enter and exit, and the only one where the placement and stroke of the pedals was comfortable for me... I experienced the same thing with the Mahindra, which I believe is a TYM built tractor.

I would encourage you to give them a try if the thought of having heat and air conditioning appeals to you...

Am considering a 'Cover My Tractor' (CMT) extended height soft cab.

LS Tractor Cab with FN1 canopy - fits XJ2025, XJ2025H

The price and size of an LS XJ2025 with SSQA is hard to overlook.

Dave,
How big are you?

I think K0ua is right about a heater w/o a cab.

Are R3 better "in" snow, or better on driveways and areas being cleared of snow? Wet snow or powder?

I thought R3 turfs are better with snow because there is more contact area and when combined with weight = more friction= more traction on a hard surface ? (Sort of like how a bald tire on pavement has more traction). But yes, the treads do allow any snow under them to escape into treads so tire can more cleanly contact ground or pavement. I think this is also why people groove R4's

Having this surface area contact would result in more traction on a hard surface than a tire with lugs where the lugs can't sink themselves and "push off" horizontally, and they don't really have much surface area in contact with the ground when not sinking in.
In deep wet snow that packs I bet R1's do better than turfs.

If I'm all wet in my understanding I'd like to hear.
