I just bought a used BH90 backhoe to add to my 2011 Case Farmall 40 tractor. The tractor already has an L350 FEL installed. Going through the installation instructions for the backhoe, if I understand them correctly, I'm finding something I don't care for regarding how the backhoe will operate with the tractor and FEL.
It appears the FEL hydraulics run off the "power beyond" port. The BH90 installation instructions tell me to remove the "power beyond" hydraulic line for the FEL (which is between the control joystick and a hydraulic manifold) and replace it with a hose and disconnects. If I understand this correctly, the FEL would be connected to the "power beyond" port when in use, but when I need the backhoe, using the quick-connects, I have to disconnect the FEL and connect the backhoe and vice versa when I need to use the FEL again - meaning I can only run the FEL, or the backhoe, but not both.
Can anyone who has a Case Farmall or DX (or the blue equivalents) with a FEL and backhoe confirm this is correct? If that's right, has anyone put together a better, less time consuming switch-over solution they would be able to share - perhaps a solenoid operated valve and a switch?
Thanks,
Jason
