Rounded off drain plug

I'd love to see the plug out, but it's something I probably won't be able to have done anytime soon short of sending it to a shop. I'm sure the threads would probably have to be redone too, although it may simply be a case of shear tight fit from having been overtightened.
have you tried clamping a vise tightly to it?.(put it on a floor jack) once clamped on, you should be able to turn the vise to loosen the nut, it has a much higher clamping force than what you have previously tried. if you know someone in your fire department, they may be able to get that loose with the "jaws of life", if it has clamping capability.. I need to say, that keeping bad oil, possibly with metal flakes in it, is not good at all for the transmission, that small amount on the bottom of the pan that you can't pump out will get stirred up!..

Yes, square head.

Here's the current state of the plug. That bar should be removable, bolt on each end. The loader mounts to the frame on the front under the engine and to axle on the rear, just a support bar I suppose. Johnkn, I've tried those extractors as well, although the one I tried was the one that fit in it's current state. Once I remove the bar I'll look into using the next size down, 1/2". Bolt head would normally be 9/16"
 Horrible.
Look into Parrot Jaw Channel lock pliers.

... Maybe use a couple hose clamps to get a real good squeeze on the handle.

Those won't work in Kando's case. He's got a super tight nut with rounded edges, very cramped space and has never done this before. Lots of things would work but he doesn't have the clearance or experience. Once he knocks this out or watches it done he's be able to do the next one in his sleep.

Sure looks that way. - A lot of insufficient strategies resulting in a cascade of degradation to the wrenching surface.

I would not screw with it...pun intended.

I never drained the oil on my 1999 Mercedes. Used a vacuum pump and sucked it out of the dip stick tube.

KISS

What a relief...I thought this thread had died!

Not yet. It will soon take second wind when Kando ask's how to retrieve a broken suction tube from inside.

Retrieve suction tube? That's easy...

Step 1) Remove drain plug.
