Of course I'm so old that I agree with you. But I also remember the "old" folks saying about the same thing when I was a teenager.
So true.

Nothing new under the sun..

Good morning! 70˚ cold front hitting with rain and thunderstorms at 6pm. This weather will put a damper on the trick-or-treaters.

I asked my neighbors a month ago if we get kids from other neighborhoods trick-or-treating and they said no, not really. All the kids I see are usually during the summer or weekends and are grandchildren. We have a "Next-door" neighborhood website that includes the neighborhoods around Sun City. There is a map page that you can specify if you are giving out candy. In the neighborhood to the west there are about 100 and in all our 80 neighborhoods, which comprise of Sun City, there is 1. So no candy here.

Our Dyson Vacuum cleaner "bit the dust" yesterday. The last time it broke it was under warranty but we had to drive to Georgetown (1.5 hours) to get it fixed. So when it broke this time I was glad we lived in Georgetown. I called the Vacuum cleaner repair place and they said they do not have the part (a switch) and they just sent out their order and will not be ordering for another two weeks. I ordered it from amazon and it will be here in a less than a week. The brick and mortar business need to keep up their inventory if they want to stay in business. I would have gladly paid double to get the switch yesterday.

We have been wanting a stick battery vac for a while to get under beds and furniture so with the big vac broke we went to best buy and got a Dyson stick. Best Buy was $120 more than Costco but they honored Costco's price. Now that's customer service.

Don we've got a Dyson V8 battery vac at the ranch and another one at a Richmond house. They really work well. Our corded floor vacs are 2-speed Orecks.

I'm guessing your "trick or treaters" will be mostly in their 40's?

Rick at the dance the age was . . . A bit higher. I saw a mean wolf t-shirt at the mall and my wife found a red cape.

70° this morning with forecast high of 79°. Rain started here during the night and looks like today will be a rainout.

We get dozens of trick or treaters at our house in Richmond but, have never had any at the ranch. Looks like weather will hamper most of the activities, even in Richmond.

Hoping for an excellent day for all.

Prayers to everyone.

60°F and rain this morning, going up to ... well, 60°. Temps will stay fairly steady until dropping through the 50s in the evening.

Rain will probably affect the candy quest here as well. Like others, our area is too rural for trick-or-treaters. Most people take their kids into town for that. We've never had any for as long as my Wife has lived there (18 years).

Hope you get the better of that bronchitis soon, Roy.

The battle between brick and mortar and online retailers doesn't seem to be getting any better for the local folks, Don. At least not around here. I get that it's hard to keep stuff in inventory that doesn't sell well. But, it's those very things that always made for the best stores, at least in my opinion. We had a couple of old hardware stores where I grew up where I never failed to find whatever obscure stuff I needed at the time. Those places are long gone. Same with RNG's Radio Shack comment. I miss the old stores, too, where you could walk in and walk out with actually electronic components. We have one electronics store left in the STL area that still carries stuff like that, and they're in West STL County, 60 miles from home. Easier to just order online these days, sadly.

daugen, the gutters on the house vacated in 1997 after the snow load on the steel roof took them down and I haven't put them back up.

I'm off to go shopping.

Amazon is building B&M stores to carry their most popular items. They know what those are and already prestock at your local warehouse to get 1 day service.

Roy, praying for speedy recovery.

We've been getting some rain, nice to have after weeks of dry weather. The farmers that planted winter wheat should be breathing a sigh of relief (seeds did not have enough moisture to germinate until the last week). They might grow enough to survive the winter.. Always a gamble planting in dry conditions.

Wife and I had a wonderful visit with her aunts and uncle and some cousins. The drive was not too bad (6+ hours each way). It is likely the last time we will see her uncle before he passes. He was talking real soft, hard for me to hear, but I got most of what he said. He is ready to pass, looking forward to meeting Jesus in person.

72°F and no rain last 24 hours. Much of the state slammed but avoided us.

Windy and sunny enough yesterday that I was able to get another couple hours knocking down the guinea grass. More of the same today hopefully. More stressful than normal mowing.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Another colorful morning

wow, another resort brochure worthy pic!!
just beautiful

well, bait in the water.

thankfully all the white clothes fit and I seem to be a proper cow.
Mask is a bit claustrophobic and of course smells bad , as well as being impossible
to see out of. I'll be down on all fours anyway.
After all, I am a proper cow...
