Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 5:30AM. Sunny. High 77F. Winds light and variable.

Best wishes for all those suffering under the weather, and about to suffer bad weather. And Eric, I hope that little lamb wises up before it's lamb chops.

Those little metal fingers on the Drill Doctor that set the rotational position of the drill are easily bent, and don't seem to work well at all on smaller drills, either. But the small drills are inexpensive, so I keep spares for the most used sizes, usually tap drills. I can still manage to sharpen the larger drills by eye.

The Oronids meteor shower was mostly a no show this morning, at least for the fifteen or so minutes of semi-comfort that the doubled over moving blanket gave from the hard concrete patio. Spotted two flashes, but only out of the corner of my eye. There also seemed to be much more light pollution coming from Oroville and Chico than I've seen in past years, as the Milky Way was barely visible.:(

She's a runner! Got the old BMW motorcycle to fire up on the second button push yesterday, but not without some surprises along the way. Before I put fuel in the tank, I cranked the engine to make sure it had oil pressure, and lets just say you need oil to get pressure. And that led to other checks and adding oil to other areas that need it, too. Didn't notice the degree wheel on the timing light had shifted, so that was another mystery to be solved. But the new ignition had the correct amount of ****** for once, and once the carbs were somewhat balanced, the engine idled and revved freely. The double handful of insulation scraps that blew out the exhaust have me wondering if there might be more trapped in there, though. This morning I'll re-torque the cylinder heads and adjust the valves, then see if I can figure out why one of the valve covers is leaking. It'll be time for a short ride after that:cool2:

Another Amazon Prime Sunday delivery brought the OBDII reader for the iPhone, and it worked as advertised. It told me that the Check Engine Light was set by the lack of a Neutral Position Switch, and let me clear the error. I was then able to set up displays for both engine speed and RPM, and find that the tach on the dash is a little optimistic with respect to what the electronics are showing. Like a man with two watches, I suppose.:confused2: If there's time today, I'll connect the little switch on the clutch pedal to the Neutral Position Switch terminal on the Engine Control Unit, take the van for a drive, and see if that fixes the rev limiter problem. But that's a lot to ask for a Monday...

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start!

31 going to a high of 45F. Wind S 8 mph. 60% chance of showers.

Hard to believe it is only 3 degrees difference between Ontario Canada and my back porch in Arkansas. 34F this morning with the first frost of the season. It is supposed to warm up to low 60's later today. Hopefully we will have a long fall season and maybe I will get some motorcycle riding in this year. Last year spring was like one day and then summer hit with 90+ temps and the same thing with fall, one week and then the rains and cold set in. I didn't even take the bike out of the shop the whole year. At least this year I have had a few good rides in the spring and several with my Harley owning neighbor this fall. Bike is in the shop getting new brake pads on the rear and hopefully it will be out by mid-week and I can take advantage of the forecasted 5 days of mid 60's and sunny weather.

That is odd, I get my water from a 176' deep well.

We also have wells. That is a good thing to investigate today. How much of our water is from the lake and how much from wells.

It was 32° this morning, yesterday was another nice day in the mid 60's with a few clouds. Today is supposed to be the same with a slight chance of a rain shower.

I got some of the stuff loaded in the trailer yesterday. But I'm still finding things that needs fixed on it. The refrigerator works on gas but not on AC. No big deal I wasn't going to run it that way on the trip anyway. I'll see about getting that fixed next spring.

My wife is going down to SLC for a few days to visit the grandsons. I need to help her get her stuff together this morning. Then I'll see what else needs fixed on the trailer.

buckeyefarmer.. Happy Birthday.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

After this things supposed to settle down some weather wise leading to milder conditions thru mid December if my crystal ball is correct. After that that big door might close and lots of snow and ice may be in store.

38°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 72° today.

Got the rest of the deck boards secured on the steps Saturday. When we installed them, we were racing incoming weather, and just threw in a couple of screws to keep them in place. The wind started getting almost unbearable while I was out there, even blowing screws off the deck. Once the dirt and debris from the field across the road started assaulting my eyes, I decided I'd had enough and called it a day. Piddled around inside for the rest of the day while The Wife was away running errands and taxiing the boy around. He had to go to Edwardsville in the morning to take another driving class, a mandated part of getting his license back in January.

We dropped unexpectedly below freezing Sunday morning. It was 28° when I got up. The hose we have running out to the chicken coop for water had frozen. As the sunshine warmed it later in the morning, it freed up with no bursts or cracks leaking anywhere. Dodged the bullet on that one.

Wife took the boy to meet one of his buddies to look at renting a two-bedroom house in Trenton. It's in an older part of town, but there's really no "bad" part of town. They liked it, and conversation disclosed that The Wife used to work with the landlord's cousin. He seemed to like the idea of renting to a couple of young guys who can mow the lawn for him. He's supposed to let them know today if they get it.

Happy Birthday, BEF.

Congrats on the Beemer running, RNG. That's got to be music to your ears.

We didn't ride at all this year, Gary, and only a couple of times last year. Just been too busy this year, and last year was definitely too hot.

Busy weekend..

Decided to put snowblower back together Saturday morning (disassembled to fix leaking auger gearbox). I sanded the surfaces mostly smooth on the aluminum gearcase halves, put the permatex gasket maker on, etc. after a 1-2 hr break, I tightened the bolts and then proceeded to put it all together.. I was happy until I did a test run to see how it ran. Two things stood out, first, way too much movement (wonder if shaft is bent), but the biggest problem is the augers halves are on the wrong side.. LOL I need to take it apart again and swap them.

Daughter called and wanted me to bring car trailer to auction, she had bought a bunch of stuff, including a 30'x65'x15' shelter in a box (steel framed box about 10' long).. long line at auction pickup, tied down after dark, took it to their property and dropped trailer, tired and ready for bed. Got home and relaxed a few minutes before bed.

Sunday, we drove ~200 miles to celebrate one of the grandkids turning 3. Had a nice party, then turned around and drove home. Tahoe got 19.4mpg for trip.

Up early this morning for 6am meeting. 24F this morning, lots of catching up on TBN. Coffee tastes good.

Gary Fowler, it IS hard to believe. 1300 miles between you and me by road almost due south west and only 3 degrees difference in temp.
