I have a Shelter Logic round top building too. After building it, I noticed a thin stripe going lengthwise on the top that was lighter than the rest. One year later, that is right where the top ripped the full length rendering it useless. I then covered the building with 2ft wide metal roofing. It works very good and greatly stiffens up the structure.

I didn't have the 'second pair of hands' to assemble a Shelter Logic 'carport in a box'. so

But I haven't figured out how to use a tractor to put the cover on it, so

Yeah, having a tractor for each job can be downright handy, but you seem to always have more toys that you can park under a roof.

I had a TSC garage in a box. On the 3rd year there was a 20ft long rip right at the top. Dont expect them to last for ever.
Also if you get snow it needs to be removed from the top and around the sides. There a real pain in the butt.

Not looking for long term storage with this. Wanted the tractor closer to the house, quonset where I had it last winter is too far to trudge through the snow, shovel out the sliding doors and struggle to open the blasted things. If it turns to rags in a few years, could get a new cover or maybe reinforce the frame and tin it.

My father in law had one but it lasted less than a year before it tore. Southwest Texas near Del Rio.

The wife and I recently put up one of the HF 10x17 portable garages for me to keep my old Mustang in. Took the two of us 4+ hours to erect. The tubing was about 1-1/4" on all the tubes. They supplied a couple of ropes and instructed to use them to pull the top on with. Worked like a charm!

It closes up good everywhere but the rear where there is a gap at the ground. I want to figure a way to close that up because the tent has been filling up with bugs which then die from the heat and end up all over the car. The main goal was to get it out of the sunlight but I was hoping to keep it cleaner.

In my experience a HF tarp shed needs additional ground anchors so it won't blow around and distort the frame in the first heavy wind. I brought ropes down to two cinder blocks next to each pole - after a bad experience. HF at that time had replacement 'rafters' at a very reasonable price. I think more recently they don't stock parts for anything.

A friend has had many. In the Canadian winter, none ever survived.

Set up one some years back, it lasted about two months when a wind storm picked it up and over the shop. Ended up against the lath house gazebo about a hundred feet away.
I repurposed the frame into my current greenhouse. Needless to say, anchored much more securely than a few small tent pins than it originally came with.

How long have they lasted?

There are different qualities of tent like structures. And, there are different extremes of Mother Nature due to snow and wind etc. Mine is over three years old now and is holding up well even in some 70 mph winds with severe hail. I bought it because I could install it all by myself and not spend a bundle of time or money doing it. Its the best that ShelterLogic makes, 12 x 8 x 20.

I will be buying a steel carport. A-frame 20x21x10 installed for under $2000. Down the road I can side it and add doors if desired. All I need to do is provide a flat and level base.

I built a small one for my Ford N. I've read that people buy a tarp and cover the thing to keep the sun from destroying it - much cheaper than buying a new shell from manufacturer every couple years.

nice. did you just use some self taping screws? I like this a lot.

The screws are the self drilling and tapping ones with the seal under the head. I pre-drill with a regular bit then drive in the screw. To tell where to drill, just push on the metal to feel for the metal tubing underneath. You just have to figure out the layout of the panels and get the seams right. Note: the hoops have to be much straighter and level with the metal than the fabric.
