Passed a honda pilot on the interstate today with 2 mattresses on top. They were driving 30 mph....

It irritates me to no end, because I tend to go at or perhaps slightly above the average speed of traffic as a whole, which means, I have to at times shift into the left [PASSING] lane to pass a slow-boat, and then I go back to the [DRIVING] lane right to let faster cars go by.

Until THAT GUY locks himself to my shoulder- usually after closely tailgating me when I drive at a deliberately faster-than-the-driving-lane-speed in the left lane to make my pass, which means that instead of being able to continue to cruise at my set speed [I love my cruise-control]- I have to brake to get him to pass or get stuck behind the next slow boat.
This gets me all the time. Travelling with horse trailer and I like to keep my speed, especially as we come onto hills and I don't want to slow down at the bottom then have to power up in a lower gear. I average about 10 kph over the speed limit on the highway and the truck usually won't have to gear down unless it is a steep hill. How many times though do I get someone who wants to park behind my right shoulder and sit there while I get closer and closer to the car in front of me and I have to brake? Sometimes they are watching the horses, which I am fine with especially if they have kids. To a certain extent.

Sometimes they are just oblivious to the world around them though. Don't drive there for 5 minutes while your girlfriend videos the horses with her phone. One time I had someone sitting there until I got bogged down by a rig in front of me, and then he slowed down to keep time with me while the gf videoed the horses. Meanwhile traffic is piling up behind him and I know I am never going to get past this slow truck in front of me. A line forms behind me and a bigger line behind him, and still he is sitting there beside me while she videos. Finally I blow my horn a few times and wave my arm for him to pass, and then he gives me the finger and speeds away leaving a 20 vehicle clog behind him.

Reportedly, this truck stopped and when the other truck tried to stop, the boat went flying:

Sorry I am late to the party but I have been on vacation. A relative of mine knows a relative of the driver. He thought the truck in front was going to run the yellow light and he was going to follow. When the front truck decided to stop he had to make a panic stop. He also claims the boat was strapped down and that the straps broke. I didn't see any broken straps in the pics.

Here are some of the thing's I've seen out and about recently.

They must have had a hard stop without trailer brakes. I wonder how his tailgate works? 20180515_181437.jpg

The only strap on the plow is across the back. Sure, it won't fall out, but it didn't seem very tight and a few good bounces might dislodge it.20180516_172136.jpg

And here's one of my recent loads.

I'm sure I was over weight, but I only had a little ways to go and I went slow with the flashers on. 14k trailer (9k load rating). The dump bed picked it up without a problem, didn't have to hand-unload it. And everything was strapped down well.

That's an AMAZING load. What kind of wood?

Willow, unfortunately. A friend needed it taken down and I had the resources to do it. Another friend wanted the wood for his wood stove. Even after I told him that he didn't really want it, he still took it. His mentality is "free wood is free wood!".

shack frame.jpg

Not the greatest scanned picture from the 90s. I had a friends unlicensed truck and thought it would be good to deliver this frame for a pond shack some twenty miles away. It was put on a K-Car axle!

My friend went Ballistic, when he found out. I guess I was kind of out of line. Easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission.

Hardly any BTUs in willow. Great for making ashes and creosote. Will rot before it dries unless split. Better than nothing but not by much. Awesome load though.
