Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I bought six of those bit sets. Gave one to my son and I need bits in the shop, basement, garage and pole barn. Too cheap a price to carry a set of bits from place to place. They are not stellar but they work ok.

I have multiple drill drivers as well. I rarely n Ed to look for a driver or bit when doing something.

I also have a set of the larger drill bits that come in a wooden box and are up to maybe an inch or so and maybe larger. They don't seem to be on the website so maybe discontinued. I use them as a progressive drill after I've already made a smaller hole in the metal. They work fine for that purpose with a slow drill press and cutting oil. I don't want to find out if they would drill a hole on their own and don't think they would.

Yes, that's the set. Slow drill press and cutting oil make them acceptable quality for enlarging holes. I can't even imagine what a 1" USA bit would cost.

For holes over 1/4" I always use a progression of larger bits. I have a set up to 1" X 64ths and have used them enough to conclude they are not made to start from a prick point. Slowest speed on DP and cutting oil always. High speed large drill bits are production items and are very costly. Not sure yet if HF's sets will last on high speed as they advertise. Probably will not know, with my life span that is left.

Has anyone used the HF Haulmaster Truck Bed Cargo Unloader? At $40, it's hard to beat the price. I'm just wondering if it's junk compared to some of the other models out there (Northern Tool sells the Boxer Truck Bed Unloader which from the looks of it is just the HF unit under a different name and for $10 more). Then there is a big jump up to $100 or so. Do you lose much in terms of durability by going with the HF or NT unit over one of the more expensive brands?

Yes, have it. Love it. Works great. Reasonably well built, too. Can dump an entire pickup bed of mulch in a minute or two. Great labor saving device. Takes some muscle to crank when fully loaded, but it works.

Yes, have it. Love it. Works great. Reasonably well built, too. Can dump an entire pickup bed of mulch in a minute or two. Great labor saving device. Takes some muscle to crank when fully loaded, but it works.

Only takes about 30 seconds. I can’t imaging going back to a regular pickup especially a high dollar one you can’t scratch. I’m thinking about getting a CDL and heavier dump truck but I don’t think I can bring myself to part with my 1 ton dump.

Reads like my pattern of keeping tools. If they are inexpensive keep multiple copies around.

Yup, love it, especially when my son is doing the cranking. I also bought the liner to go under it. We routinely used it for loads of #57. I put down a sheet of 3/4 PT plywood, lay a HF tarp on it, put the rubber mat on, then the unloader. Drop up to 3,000 lbs of #57 on top. Wrap the tarp around to prevent spillage. Then when unloading shovel enough off so we can crank it. As with everything else if you can park the truck so the bed on an angle with the tailgate low gravity helps.

Well worth $30. Don't really need the rubber mat.

Yep it works great. A couple tips. First... If you have a sprayed (LineX) bed, you will need to slick it up for ease of use. I bought a bed mat for my F150. It is 8ft long and fits perfect with tail gate down. I use it when I want things to slide but always use it when using the HF 'Unloader'.

The Unloader is great for bark, gravel, garden soil, and debris. Amazingly strong and simple.

Other tip... make sure you are level 'side to side' so when you crank, the fabric spools evenly on the shaft.

If you've got very many to do, why not use the air powered pop rivet gun? But, I do not have any info on either the two handle or air powered pop rivet tools.

Thanks for the feedback on the truck bed unloader. Has anyone cut the width down to make it fit a smaller truck? It's made for a full-size truck, but I have a Tacoma.

We use to use one (not the HF version but looked identical) on a older toyota pickup, it's been awhile but I believe we cut it down to fit. Worked great at unloading gravel and sand. If you have a plastic bedliner they work really well!

Are you talking about the Blue and black one that goes up to 1/4" rivets? If so it works well, I bought it specifically to do 1/4" but have used it with smaller ones when I couldn't find my other rivet gun.
If you have a lot to do I would look into a pneumatic one as someone already mentioned if you have air available, even with the long handles it'll wear you out and is a bit bulky.
