52F clear sky upper 80's for high.
Plans for today...3 little putter jobs and quick trip to town for goodies.

Enjoy the day all.

Low 80s today and low humidity for one more day, felt like early October yesterday with 25-20 mph NE wind and 75 for a high.
Ellen has another busy day planned so I’m off to breakfast.
Good days and prayers for all.

53 and clear, going up to a relatively cool 80 for July. Nice.

David, great contrast between the lava flow and the waterfalls. Look like your 4some had a great time. Did you get to fly over your house? I think I just figured out where the name Sodamo comes from.

Ed, fished a good bit of the James, too, mostly between Wingina and Richmond.

Bush hogged about 5 acres yesterday...felt good with the north wind and temps in the upper 70s.

Do you remember the Bateaus on the James. I was one of 6 that built and "sailed" the first on in 200 years from Columbia to Richmond. Fished on and off the whole way. Most of my James river fishing was around Columbia. Ed

Roy, not only are the pto shafts a PITA to work with, but impossible to get the thing on without getting covered in grease.
There just has to be a better way.

I wear gloves when I'm hooking up the PTO...also, keep a shop rag handy. Also, veteran Carhartt canvas work pants which have been well broken in working around the tractor and implements.
This shaft has the ring which must be pulled back and three retaining balls... I don't think the retaining balls are retracting fully when I slide the ring back.
Drew, if your chipper came with the American made PTO shaft, you probably have the same one I do.

52 right now...high in the mid-80's.
Chores: finish up what I started yesterday (and bitched about late yesterday afternoon) and some wed trimming.

Speaking of weed trimming...we have a lot of weeds this year. I don't normally spray them, but I've started this year. I don't want to use chemicals if I can avoid it. I'm trying vinegar...for you guys in the same situation, what are you doing?

That is really cool. They just held the 33rd James River Bateau Festival a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like a very interesting trip down the river. Were the white water rapids sections difficult on a bateau?

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:00AM. Sunny. High near 95F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.

Thanks for sharing the lava flow pics, David. I noticed you were able to come down much closer to the water, and wondered if there are minimum altitude restrictions in place for the lava?

There you go teasing us again with pond stories, Eric. By the time you get around to telling us your secret, I bet that fish will have grown to at least twice the size it was yesterday.

Spare, or as Honda calls it, sub tank, is now ready for coating, after many trips in and out of the cement mixer for tumbling. The cap for it looks pretty with its shiny chrome, but even with a new seal, it managed to leak a bit into the moving blanket. After a trip through the wash the blanket was good as new, though. Not sure what to do about the leak, maybe add another seal for more pressure? Turned out to be something of a good thing, though, as the saturated cloth put enough of the etch onto the old rusty but good sealing main tank cap to change it back to silver in color.

After all that running around and lunch, it felt like it was time for a nap. But with no A/C running inside yet I was up in an hour to turn it on, then watch a few YouTube videos, one of which showed the semi-submersible boats now being used to smuggle cocaine and other narcotics into the US and Mexico from Columbia. Made out in the jungles from fiberglass and resin, they cost about a million bux a pop and are scuttled after one run, but with each load bringing in $175 million, who's counting?

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend...

Good morning to all! Down to 48 at 05:00, warmed up to 56 at 06:30, going for 84. Supposed to have a better chance of showers today, I hope so.

David, absolutely awesome pictures! Once in a lifetime opportunity.

Randy, have fun at the car show, should be perfect weather for it!

Eric, you need to get some 'muskillunge' fish (don't know if I spelled that right) to take care of those little feeder fish:eek: just kidding...any fishing is good

Going to head out early to work on the fence, maybe I'll get rained out (yea right):D

Everyone have a great day! Prayers out this morning!

Cool morning. Pool water seems warmer than the air. Inviting, but there is work to be done.

Interesting fish, Eric.

Mother Earth sure is spectacular, David. Awesome.

Have a great day all. Remember to enjoy the day! It is after all, Sunday.

Good Morning Everyone!!!!!!

David- Thanks for sharing.

A beautiful, calm, early AM with temperatures in the high 40F's. Early AM indoor temperatures 62F - 63F . I am already covering and closing windows. Yesterday the first floor started off at the same temperatures and the indoor temps reached a high ranging 73F - 75F with yesterday's high outdoors ~76F. We only needed the ceiling fans. Today will be hotter with anticipated high temperatures in the mid 80F's. Tomorrow I will know when the A/C is replaced; hopefully midweek.

For once I accomplished just about everything on yesterday's "List": The rider did not like the height of the "grass" (~2'), but it managed to cut the"lawn" and perimeter path (w/o bagger); close to 3 acres. It's a discharged vegetation mess everywhere; I will try to collect this matted mess later today when things dry out. I did take my old Stihl FS 130 weed/brush whacker to the local dealer for repairs, and also bought a Stihl KM 131 R power head and a HT-KM pole pruner. They are essentially the same with the KM having easier-to-mount additional front end attachments. I like brush cutting with those handlebars, and will use it until it's RIP.

I can definitely relate to the challenges of trying to mate the :censored:driveshaft's PTO locking pin/ring/band to the tractor's PTO spline. So far I have been lucky; my "day" is coming :(.

Brogen met the :censored: the local feral cat 2X this AM:eek:; coming and returning from walk#2:mad:, That :censored: cat was still hiding under the garden/wood cart....... Luckily Brogen minded the choke chain collar. I suspect he knows about the danger of cats. The cat did skedaddle during a "correction."

Today I will be messing in the garden that has been unattended for 3 weeks :(.

I hope that everyone had a decent day today.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

It was 51* this morning, yesterday was in the high 80's and almost no wind at all for a change. Today is going to be sunny this morning with a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. With the high back in the 80's and the wind 10-20 by the afternoon.

Still working on the trailer but it's going better then I thought. I need to pick up some things for it next week when I go back down to SLC. Started another project this one I get to weld on. I hope it goes as good as the trailer has.

Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.
CWB.

69°F and 1.11 inches rain.

Back in garage mode for a couple hours and then visit with friends this afternoon.
Prayers for all.
Be safe.
Have a great day

Roy, I did not upgrade to the US pto shaft. Thought it was interesting they promote US made on my model and then they only offer a foreign shaft without paying hundreds more.
I spray a lot of Kroil on those pto balls to keep them free, nothing lacks for lube

Busy but fun day, weather was cloudy and much cooler, fun to be out.
Day started poorly for local rabbit, who never got any of the carrots I took to the barn to lure them away from the big garden.
Now that rabbit lost its head for sure. Hawk most likely, surprised remainder was there and not carried off.

Mammoth sunflower starting to bloom but even at 9 pounds I picked this melon too soon, wasn't ready though the opposing tendril was a little wilty.
Guess these are big melons. Will save the seeds tomorrow if I have time.

The PTO shaft I got on both Woodmaxx attachments I have are the China ones. They have a single pin lock. Both are fairly easy to hook up. My Kubota tiller has the ball type lock. It’s hard to get on and off. Requires 2 hands. I bought a cheap china clutch one off Amazon to replace it. My JD rotary cutter has ball type lock. But to release the balls you twist the release. Can be done with one hand.

Poor rabbit

seriously bad day for Mr Wabbit

out came the pitch fork and into the woods he/most of him went flying

Ron, yes, I like those single pin ones better. The collar on the ball types can bind and I've lost so much hand strength I just can't
go through those contortions any more.

I want them to nestle together like two eager lovers.
Let's not keep this terrible chastity collar between us...:ashamed:

Yes it was a fun week, The bateau was 40 ft long and 8 ft wide so even going over Williams Dam with about 2 ft drop was almost not noticeable. We went through rapids that had a canoe wrapped around a rock and you would not know the rapids were there if you closed your eyes. Ed
