Good morning!!!!

Good Afternoon Everyone!!!!!!

It took a while, but I believe I have some ideas about how all of you and family faired during what Wifey calls the "Period of Suspended Animation." Our lives shared here is not that boring despite what me may sometimes believe.

The cold front blew through here this AM and with it's passing the "3 H" weather is now history (for now). With lowered humidity and tonight's temperature predicted to be in the 50F's we will spend the night at home with windows open (those that can) and fans running. The owner of the Heating/Cooling company that installed our original Mitsubishi mini-split system was here today to assess what the replacement and addition of an additional (3rd) zone needs will be. I will be getting estimates today on which way to go; between single or double outside condenser unit(s). We will be eligible for some rebates either way we go. He is scheduling this coming Tuesday for the installation . We are lucky to have had a service contract with them. We'll see. We will bail Brogen from the kennel tomorrow when we have gotten the home's temperatures down to a more (St. B.) tolerable level. The oor guy did not get much canine socialization during this incarceration. The kennel did not feel comfortable with the "mix" of boarded dogs this time. I'd be cautious too. We really do not know just how socialized Brogen is to other dogs. We discovered he is good with children standing at his eye level. He still has a lot to learn.

Don- I hope you success with Whipper's canine socialization. I am returning to documenting calories consumed and expended. It takes effort to maintain a "healthy" lifestyle. Your community has a lot to offer for the health conscious.

Drew- We gave up on growing corn a couple of years ago. We only planted one variety to minimize the cross pollination risk. I planted it with the use of a tape measure.

"So much to do, and dont feel like doing any of it."- BEF I have much respect for those who work, sweat, and dehydrate in this recent HHH weather due to job requirements or personal motivations. I was motivated enough yesterday to hang sheets over our most "productive" windows to minimize solar gain indoors.

Mostly_Gas- Good luck with tomorrow's launch. Remember to install the hull plug ;). When sailing I only messed up when people were watching.:embarrassed:

Ed- I never did compliment you on your mill; nice unit. My metal working skills are essentially nonexistent.

RNG- I hope you remain safe from all those fires in CA.

David- Nice spread for your July 4th celebration. I read a lot of work and effort in this; I am happy that you and Sophie made it a successful celebration.

"Drop Zone" = mud room = living room. It's been a real challenge to change my ways. So far I have not met Wifey's  "parameters of expectation" :(.

Ted- I hope you MCL keeps mending.

My + thoughts wishes and prayers for all.

Be careful on your statuary quest, RNG. We did the same thing a few months ago, and found a terrible place with all sorts of dastardly ways to take our money. We were looking for a bench, and ended up also buying a new bird bath top, a border collie statue, and two stone lanterns for the zen garden.

Depends on where I end up shopping. I learned this morning that Lowes seems to have a few styles actually in the store, and there's a place called Dos Amigos on the north end of town that bills themselves as a real statuary. From the looks of their Facebook page, they have prices to match! My needs are simple, and with no wife to please, I think my budget is, too.

I am blessed. Was talking to my neighbor the other day and asked where to get the AC charged in my 01 dodge 1500. He said "I will do it" I just got back and I now have really cold air again and when I asked what I owe him. Nothing. I have a great neighbor.

Jay, I too think a lot about the people out there sweating in this heat. I don't have to do that anymore and work at not doing it. Spent many years in the hay fields and construction sights and don't miss the heat at all.

Drop zone, this language is getting more complicated all the time. The websters must have nightmares every night worrying about what new words or meaning we will come up with next. I just like it simple, a place to put my junk when I come in the door. And when it comes to using letters for words in my opinion that is APITA. :2cents: :) Ed

Now everyone is in a spin (spinning) about a drop zone.

Ed- Good people deserve to be on the receiving end of good stuff happening. You and your family deserve some good stuff happening. I was thinking of you and your family when the A/C Service tech suggested we purchase a couple smaller window A/C units for a temporary solution. Window units would not work here.

I never was fond of heat, and now it is not in my best interests to exert in hot weather. I spent too many years working inside institutional longterm settings w/o A/C for the residents and outreach in public housing. Strangely management usually had A/C. I sometimes had my choice, but my offices were always in unused seclusion rooms on the secure wards..... I always had my choice in office selection;).

We have a utility room. With a small 3 drawer cabinet. On top of the cabinet is a woven basket. With a towel over it. Every thing gets dropped into basket and covered with towel. Would that be a Drop Zone? :confused3:

Yours would be a quarter drop zone.
You are missing a bench, space for shoes and hooks to hang hats/coats.

Ours will actually technically a drop zone plus with additional place for cat litter and a tall cabinet for the vacuum and a table for folding clothes.

Being retired Army, airborne qualified, my first thought on drop zone was not viable. My second guess, Don confirmed.

Ours maybe a bit strange, a covered, screened in area between the main house and garage with the drop area just being a table. I have a tendency to just come all the way in and drop whatever on the kitchen counter. Still haven’t figured out our “front door” as the front of the house faces the pool and ocean but one has to pass thru gate to access from drive which is at rear of house.
