Good morning!!!!

Lenny, we have a 4 yr old grand daughter in common. I do enjoy my time with her (daughter and grand daughter live with us). I have to occasionally remind myself that the momma is parent and I am the papa. While we had plans as empty nesters, life happened and that chapter in our lives was closed and new one opened.

69°F and .3 inches rain

Great 4th gathering yesterday. Super weather, great food, wonderful people. 54 if my count is correct. Both my brisket and pork were hits. Two versions of green papaya salad and I did wonder if Don would approve. Some homemade chocolate truffles made by my retired Coast Guard attorney friend and his wife. They grow and process the cacao and plan on their own commercial kitchen next year.

75°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 95° today. Supposed to cool back down into the 80s for the weekend.

Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Independence Day ... well, for us treasonous yanks, anyway :D. Also hope everyone still has the same number of fingers they had on Tuesday. That stuff can be dangerous.

The Wife and I got the grass cut yesterday by double teaming it, with me on the Husqy rider and her on the Dixon zero-turn. Four hour job turned into two-and-a-half. Because it was still too wet in the morning, we had to wait until afternoon. It was hot, but it's cut. Still need to take a long walk with the weedeater, but that will wait until tomorrow.

Took a couple of vacation days today and tomorrow to make a long weekend. Not hating it so far, and not anticipating hating it later. In the immortal sign-off words of Hickok45, "Life is good."

I liked the ones that said Campagnolo...

Do I detect a Breaking Away reference there?

My best friend and I used to bike around the area all summer in our early teens. We'd put in sometimes as much as 100 miles a day. We also both had that yellow Campy hat, inspired by that movie. Put a lot of miles on that old Gitane.

Eric, time to spend a day away and a night out in the coolness of the eve.

Sodamo, quite a spread. I would be the guy in the pool if not too cool.

Don, have you considered a personal watercraft? It would fit in the garage, and take you and the wifey anywhere on Lakes Georgetown, Travis, Marble Falls, Austin, Inks, Buchanan, the list is long. You could explore a lot with one. I love boating. Next best thing to a sailboat without the hassle of setup or slip fees.

No I have not but my nephew and BIL have one. I think they will be by later this summer to check out the lake 10 minutes away so I can check them out.

I use to have four jet skis, 3 Sea Doo’s and a Kawasaki, they are a blast and cheap to operate. I sold mine as the kids married and moved away.

Had a busy day, stayed wet with sweat all day too, did some work on a 69 Buick for a friend, sold a 60 inch Cub Cadet mower deck, mowed grass, installed a retractable umbrella on the deck, went to dinner with friends, sat on the deck until dark, and now I’m checking in with the crew.

Got to around 90 today, but the heat index was over 100 all day just about, dew points in the mid 70s.
Hope you all had a great day. Prayers for all.

Good evening all. 76F for the start, calm wind partly cloudy sky. Wind was about 5-15 mph, sky was partly to mostly cloudy and high temp was 95F, (HI about 100). Bike ride this morning, then get the boat registered for this lake, lunch then golf with wife her daughter and her boy friend, followed by dinner out. will get boat wet tomorrow, they want to cut golf short if need be to get boat wet :cool2::thumbsup:
Don saw deer at a golf course I played at in North St Louis nicknamed the pipe-fitters course (Emerald Green) almost every night when returning to club house, one night had a large flock of turkey by one of the tee box. As we approached they flock divided into 2 groups and walked into nearby woods. I couldn't believe how nonchalant they were around us:eek:
prayers for all.

Good morning. A cooler breeze this morning and some light cloud in the forecast for this afternoon to limit the expected high to 24C/75F. :dance1:

Now, should I resume brickwork restoration, or get out the "gone fishing" sign ? Life is full of difficult choices :D

Good morning all, 73 going to 83 with an 80% chance of heavy rain. Still tired from yesterday, hope to take it easy today, will see.

Eric, fishing always takes precedence over all work, where are your values, they sound twisted. :)

Have a great day, prayers sent. Ed

My best friend and I used to bike around the area all summer in our early teens. We'd put in sometimes as much as 100 miles a day. We also both had that yellow Campy hat, inspired by that movie. Put a lot of miles on that old Gitane.

By the time that movie came out, I had graduated college and was headed west to California, and my bicycling days on the road were coming to an end. I think the movie was shot around Bloomington, Indiana, where an annual two day bicycle ride called the Hilly Hundred was held. Great riding, made very strenuous by the many steep hills along the route. The movie dramatized what many of my friends and I enjoyed in our youth with the American Youth Hostels group rides and local racing clubs, though none of us were ever very successful winning much of anything, or went around trying to speak Italian. Lots of fond memories from those times, though...

Drinking first cup of coffee. 64° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 75° with lots of sun. My kind of outdoor temperatures. Finish putting tools and other items away before PT this morning. Complete cutting lawn in afternoon.

Eric, FISHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prayers for all those in need.

Good Morning All.

Good morning folks, hope you had a great night. Rain all around us yesterday, within a mile in three directions, we got a few puppy tracks here, had to water flowers last night. Upper 80s today with heavy storms they say, tomorrow looks glorious, 78, sunny and a stiff northeast breeze! Three H weather returns next week. I’m going to try and do less today, but 8 heard Ellen writing lists last night, so I expect one of them needs checking off today.

Have a good day, prayers all around.

74 going to 87. Sweet north wind coming here this afternoon, too...hopefully bringing rain before the lower humidity.

Happy International Kissing Day. Seems like there is a national or international day for everything imaginable.

David, that party and food look swell.

Mowed and string trimmed for a few hours yesterday during the worst of the heat and humidity. Then took wife to get some chile rellenos for supper and grocery shopping afterwards.

Good morning all. Shelled some lima beans while having my first cup of coffee, soon headed out to rototill.

These Calico beans sure are pretty. When the cover comes off, they are all green inside.
Am interested to see if after cooking they lose their color like the red and purple green beans did.
My own lima beans ...finally. Sure not giving these away.
Just a few King Of The Hill regular limas in there.
I've learned you have to plant a lot of these to get anywhere apparently.

76 outside this AM, going to 85. Suppose to rain today....

Probably take some measurements and move some wood around. Picked up 16 footers yesterday. Only hit one road sign on the way home. Not bad. That should be it for the wood framing. Just dress up cuts and door and window frames. Now I have an 8 foot slider added to the design, so I need some more 4x4's. Told the wife, design changes require more trips to the hardware store.

Finally caught a groundhog that was under one of my outbuildings. Young one. It's been a battle of wits and traps for over a month. Took him up to MCBQ. See how he likes open-fire ranges.

Hope all have a great day, and weekend. Be safe.
