Good morning!!!!

Mowed about 8 of the 10 acres today. Whew! Grass was about 18" tall. Slow going with a LP 60" finish mower on back.

A lot of grass cuttings / clumps laying in the yard now. My wife ran the 42" pull behind lawn sweeper but there has to be a better way. There are about 50 little piles of grass about hay bale size now where she dumped the rake when it was full.
Do I need a rake, bagger, or a vacuum?
I bought this place with the intent of having a nice manicured lawn for one time in my life.

I have a L3301 Kubota and a John Deere 240 garden tractor to work with.

Suggestions are welcome. My first thought is to use a landscape rake and windrow the grass and then try to scoop it with the bucket.

Hopefully, once it's back down to lawn height, the extra won't be such an issue.
Lenny

If me, I’d just mow, remow, and mow again until it’s like you want.

Lenny.

Instead of dumping the piles where the sweep gets full we always pulled the sweep to a specific place and made one big pile. Of course we have cattle so we made our pile in the pasture and the cows took care of the rest.

Remember whenever you sweep the lawn you are removing nutrients from the soil. So over time you have to replace them. If you keep the lawn mowed regularly then the clippings fall through the grass, eventually starting to breakdown. This will return the nutrients to the grass making it grow better and eliminating the need for fertilizer. Unless you are a huge fan of mowing.

That makes sense. My wife thought she had heard that the cut grass clippings would kill the newly cut grass.

Also good for you guys to remind me about losing the nutrition.

A rather cool 41 right now...high in the mid to upper 70's today...nice day ahead of us.

Wife and Stepdaughter all settled back in...cats are happy...Bella has her pack all home...everybody's happy! Now, all I gotta do is pay the bills

Looks like a rainy weekend ahead...reckon I'd better mow this afternoon...

Fingers crossed, we could be entering haymaking weather. I need to have another pass over the hayfield and pull out ragwort first, it's starting to become more noticeable as it comes into bud. Best I get going now in the faint hope that a few of the horseflies will still be asleep.

David, did you hear if Kevin's house is still standing, or did the lava get it ?

Still standing to my knowledge, but on the news tonight the entire subdivision is being rated at $0 value. Over 600 homes destroyed.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 61° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 69° with chance of rain in afternoon. Vet visit went well. Muffin will get growth on upper eye lid removed in a couple of weeks. Got lawn cut yesterday. Got a shopping list for today. That should keep me busy most of the day.

Charles, RIP. One of the BEST.

Don, I have a Craftsman version of the Shopmate hanging on wall in garage. I bought it when we lived on east side. Probably 50 years old. Never remember to use it.

Lenny, like your bed story. When the grass gets to high and creates to many clippings. I get the Lawn Vacuum out. My neighbor has his lawn cut twice at each cutting to get rid of clipping within the standing crass. One of the nicest lawn in neighborhood. Proper cutting of lawn say's to never cut more than 1/3rd of the lawns height. When weather is right for grass to grow I am on a 4 to 5 day cutting plan. I have not had to do that this year. Not enough rain. If your yard has trees. You may want to consider a Vacuum type cart. I have a 8 hp Trak-Vac.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

The deck on our ZTurn is 60in mulching deck works very well. If the grass is too tall mow in three different heights until preferred length is achieved whis is 3.5in. Works well for us

New toys coming exciting times coming Ed

Toppop never been to Carlyle what’s it like?
