whats the difference between a hipper and a bed shape planter?

If you do a internet image search for "hipper farm equipment" you will see mostly simple tillage tools designed to make a raised line of soil which is often intended for planting a single row of seed (maybe sometimes plant seedlings). When you search for "bed shaper" images you will tend to see more implements and farm machines designed to make a wider, more flat-topped planting bed which is most often intended to make a place to place plant seedlings rather than drill or row-crop plant seed. But you will see some crossover between the two image searchers. Different farmers and different farming regions will have varying names for the equipment they use.

To answer the OP's question...IMO...is: The difference is how wide apart you set the discs...extra wide for "beds"...close together for "hills"...Beds can only be as wide as a the tool bar...!
