Know where they are at-not terribly far from my ranch-not familiar with the breeder as I am working with Pointing Labradors these days

Pretty pup-see any pointing out of him?

My Oona could be her twin. Since semi-retiring a few years ago she doesn't like to let me out of her sight. The ticks come from our mostly daily walks in the fields and woods and even after a careful check, some make it inside and fall off after sampling the Advantage II. If I just mention "truck" or "ride in truck" this normally calm dog goes into a barking frenzy. I get the "stink eye" you mention as well as laid back ears if I say "No, you need to say here."
She's on that K9 Advantics and I treat the yard. I check her every couple of days for ticks, and have yet to find one on her. Ever since she was a pup, if my wife's doing laundry, she's got to be in the thick of it helping :D Loves to shop also, you should see her with a shopping bag. She's gotta inspect and see what we got. Tail wagging the dog while she's inspecting :D

Although she has anxieties with back packs. She associates them with me going out of town for work. If I come home from work and toss down my gym bag, she will snag it and thrash the snot out of it, or try to take it from me if I have it in my hands. Even worse with a suitcase. She will tackle it and ride it down the hall trying to stop me from leaving. Then give me the stink eye once I get it outside.

Bug man had to alter his routines when spraying around the house once we figured out what was going on. They've been friends since she was a pup. But was acting squirrelly around him the last time he was out. He switched up to a back pack sprayer instead of a little hand held sprayer.

Once we determined it was the "back pack", he just puts her inside while he sprays the outside, then gives her a treat and let's her outside to finish up.

Well - he is just a pet but all the robins in the yard get "pointed". He tried to make friends with a big 'ol Canadian Honker last week. He learned a lesson - the honker wasn't frightened a bit and didn't fly away. Stood his ground, flapped his wings and hissed. Olly ran back and sat down right beside me.

My main concern and I think Olly understands now - coyotes are not your friend. There are many "groupings" of coyotes here. We go out for "final call" in the evening and within half a minute - several anounce their presence. Olly always turns and heads back towards me when they start howling. I definitely encourage this reaction and behavior.

Well, if you want to see some pointing labradors hard at work NW Pointing Labradors is holding an APLA hunt test at the Espanola training grounds near Medical Lake-PLs from young untitled pups to multi titled Grand Master Pointing Labrador’s will be running on May 26/27-it is impressive to see these dogs work upland Pointing tests and land/water retrieves in back to back to back series

Smart dog. I really don't think that coyotes will bother a healthy Lab unless it's been a bad winter; but really don't care to test that theory.

My wife disappeared this afternoon and came back home with this little thing on the left. It is another chinese crested.....
Seems that the people that owned him couldn't take him to their next rental.
Might be OK. He hasn't bit me yet. :)

Gypsy is a Jeep Girl :D As you can see by the look on her face.

Wife jokes that she's my girlfriend. For the most part where I am at home, she is right there with me. Only exceptions is if there are kids or my wife has food  With the kids, she takes her babysitting duties very seriously and remains with them for the duration of there visit. If I go outside, she will lay by the door and wait for me. Or if she's outside with me, then she's either next to me or laying about 10ft behind me. Same if I go into another room.

I've never had a dog this devoted to me before.

Only time gypsy barks is if she deems it's time to play ball and I ignore her. But you can thank my wife for teaching her that one. Other times is if someone comes in the house unannounced. Then she can really raise the hairs on your neck and make your butt pucker

Had that happen twice with my shepherd when she lost her ball under the bed. First time I was home and lifted the front of the bed and my wife crawled under and grabbed her collar to get her out.

The second time I was out of town. Wife called me in a panic. I pointed out we had a floor jack in the garage. So she grabbed a block and the floor jack to get her out :D By that point the shepherd had been stuck for about 20 minutes.

Now she just lays in front of the bed looking under it and cries till someone digs her ball out.

You made me think of this old guy. By far the best "jumping" dog I've had. He could jump in the back of the truck with the tailgate up.

View attachment 556624

Mine isn't much of a jumper. Usually just a quick hop. Or she will stand like she did in the picture. I usually have to pick her bottom up to get her in the truck or jeep.

Now if something happens with a kid, that's another story. Had my grandkids other grandparents over to the house for dinner. Well the grandfather went to wrestle with my grandson in the front yard. Grandson let out a squeal, and Gypsy went over the fence. Put herself between my grandson and his grandfather. Grandfather needed a clean pair of shorts after that one  She didn't try to bite him, but that growl seemed like it originated from her toenails and made the hair on my neck stand up when I got out there and told her it was ok
