It was 35* for the low this morning, we had some good rain yesterday afternoon with a high in the low 60's. Today is going to be in the upper 60's with a 50% chance of showers later in the day.
We had a nice dinner with the neighbors last night in town. Also helped one of them yesterday morning do some work on his wood processor. We added a extension to the conveyor to drop the wood more in the center of truck he uses to haul it in.
Don't have any plans for today.

Good Morning Everyone-
A humid low 50F start to the day; it's a humid, low 60F's now, and might get to the low 70F's if the sun pops out. If the sun does show itself long enough I might get some Tstorms bubbling up this PM.
"Yes, I did grow some, once upon a time."- L4F. It is easy to grow; hard to grow potent. There's a relatively responsible international mail order marijuana seed dispensary out your way in Canada. I was 16 when my Dad found my first pot patch behind the garage. I was surprised he would walk that far (100'). He was not amused. It was a "learning event" for me . I am told that there has been some really high grade marijuana grown in these MA Hilton areas for many years. There were always a lot of helicopter flyovers and always a couple of discovered and confiscated "patches" around here by LE every Fall season. Now it is legal to grow with a lot of nonsensical "rules." There were many reasons for the installation of a 11.88kWp solar panel array in the lower field. W/i walking distance from here for someone healthy, there is a voluntary drug rehabilitation center and a pending large medical marijuana production facility....
Thomas- That is too cool; having a pet chipmunk. I have not seen any around here the past two years? I am looking at my soaked wood on the ground that did not get stacked last year...... Another project. Today's a pretty humid day to be working wood; temperatures are decent though.
For the past 3 days now I have only taken two shots of long and short acting insulins at night each day and my blood sugars are ranging 100 +/- 10 in the AM and 0 hypoglycemic or near hypoglycemic blood sugar readings during the day with BS = 100 +/- 20. The "Plan" seems to be working. If I have some sort of "bad" event/outcome before my physical exam it will at least be documented here.
David and Sophie- I hope that you continue to stay out of harm's way.
I hope everyone mending keeps mending, those in decent shape stay that way, and everyone has a decent Sunday.

Good morning to all! Low of 52 today, going up to 78. Went a tad warmer yesterday, 84. The forecast keeps changing the 'chances' of rain. Slight chance tonight, increased to 40% tomorrow afternoon. Maybe...I'm keeping the fingers and toes crossed, practicing my rain dance moves...
Well, didn't whack those weeds down yesterday either. Definitely doing it today before they grow another foot if it rains. Mixed up a bunch of planting soil mix yesterday. Helped wifey transplant a bunch of tree seedlings she had started from seeds. There's only 240 more or less, to go.... I'll get NM reforested yet!
Decided to fire up the smoker yesterday. Put on a chicken basting in 'Tennessee sweet sauce', baked 'taters, sweet corn on the cob, and a tray of snow peas, cauliflower, carrots, mushrooms, and green beans. The veggies were in a homemade vinaigrette sauce. Over ate my fill last night, boy was it good, chicken just fell of the bone.
I procrastinated buying this smoker a couple years ago. It's propane fired and I thought it would not be like a 'real' smoker. Well, gets the job done fantastically, plus use it as an outdoor oven for regular cooking during the hot summer (keeping heat out of the house). We have even made pizzas in it, both smoked and regular.
Glad too hear that maybe the torrential rain is at least slowing down a bit for you guys. Always the case.. Too much or not enough.. You guys stay safe cleaning up.

just finished picking peas before the rains came. Got in just in time, gave me a chance to box things up for delivery tomorrow.
4 quarts of "shucking peas" and three quarts of snow peas/edible pod peas.
I could use a hand with terminology. Need to label the peas that need to be shucked.
Are they considered "regular peas"? Some folks love what I call regular peas, I do...just so much work and I'm not doing it.
So if there were two boxes of peas, one you needed to shuck, would "shucking peas" be the right term?

Wifey says she would label them as. "Shucking peas". She says then there is no confusion about which one needs to be done. Not sure if there is an actual name for them.

Now what you need is some good tough paint on the steel - and I happen to know someone with a few spare pints of epoxy they will gladly give you
Let's see, as I remember (how could I forget?) you already have a 3M cartridge mask, so why not invest a few pounds more and purchase one of the inexpensive Chinese imported HVLP spray guns and a water trap filter to use with your compressor? It won't produce as fine a finish as an Iwata, but it'll be good enough for farm girls, and you won't have to replace that expensive epoxy primer.

Good Morning!!!! 58F @ 8:45AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 74F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Even with yesterday's late start, I was still able to cut another quarter of the acreage, leaving a bit more than that for today. Since the weather is looking just warm with light breezes, if I don't finish today I can tomorrow, though I would like to be done with this rather hair raising job. The grass was so thick in the upper meadow I had to rev the PTO up to 475 RPM and just let the tractor barely creep along in 1st/low (it's a hydrostat, so each gear has two speeds) and just let the flail chew. It was especially bad where the grass had been slept on by the deer or trampled by the Kubota side-by-side. I came close to stalling the engine a couple of times and had to lift the flail to clear out the cuttings enough to get the rotor spinning again.
David, I'm wondering when it's time to replace the belts on the flail mower. Do you do it by the hour accumulation, or wait for one to let go?
The neighbor brought his trailer back yesterday, along with a 10' piece of 2x3x3/16" wall tubing to make the fender mounts. He got it at the scrap yard he works for at no cost. He said the piece was originally 20' long, but that wouldn't fit in is Bronco, so the guy he got it from used a huge shear to pinch cut it in the middle. :shocked: Bet that made a noise!
